Things just never want to go smoothly here sometimes.
You have the LSU game where your QB doesn't execute on the goaline, the GT game where your star RB puts the ball on the ground a few times, the refs hose us twice against Houston. Yet you endure, kick OM's tail even though you can't make a bowl and start preparing for next season.
The big changes you want to make are getting a new DC and a true duel threat QB. You're not quite sure who you want for DC but you're confident you can figure it out. Meanwhile you know exactly what you want for QB - a big 6'5 guy you've coached before. He knows your system and he likes you and wants to play in the SEC. No other SEC schools are offering so things look good - he comes for his official visit and is having a great time, rining a cowbell and all. Thinks looks great even despite some talk of visits to KSU and Oklahoma. You're not going to lose him to those guys.
Then a week or so before he signs there are rumblings Auburn is trying to get in. That worries you but you're confident that the relationship, the months spent recruiting the kid and your reputation with QB's will be enough even though Auburn is a little closer and more prestigious program. You know Dad has a lot of pull here and when dad doesn't go on the trip to AU, you're feeling good. No matter what Auburn throws at him as long as it's not enough for him to retire on, you think he can overcome anything else.
Today you get a call from a GA stating that the news is that our QB is going to sign with Auburn after all. Needless to say you're pissed. You try to talk yourself into the fact that maybe that means we'll get Brunetti, but deep down you know that's still a longshot after he baffled you by calling you a favorite and then up and commiting to WV of all places. Regardless is means your plans for next year are screwed, and beyond that you're going to have to look at the bastard on the other side of the field for two years. Now you'll spend the rest of the winter/spring/summer worrying that Relf will do something stupid and get suspended again and that Russell will sustain an injury.
Now you're still thinking what every die hard MSU fan has uttered in the sarcastic tone at some point "We are MSU"
