The point remains that PSU has lost at least two regular season games each season since 2016. Could happen again this year.
10 P5 teams won 11 or more games last season. As a PSU fan, I'd love to have them win every single game. I also know from experience that it isn't likely. I'm aware of the record vs Michigan and OSU. What I always wonder is who else is beating both of those teams consistently?
Anyone who is withholding their enthusiasm for the program until PSU beats those programs consistently will be at least as old as I am until they celebrate.
If PSU were in the SEC, would the same "fans" insist we've done nothing until we beat Georgia and Alabama consistently?
I'm always hopeful for a playoff berth. But I'll be damned if I'm going to piss on 4- 11 win seasons in 7 years and 4 NY6 bowls and top 10 finishes. It's likely at least 56 or 65 P5 fan bases would kill for that record.
There are lots of moving parts fans should consider. How many sports do SEC schools support?
Georgia spends more than 4.5 million on recruiting, about 3 X more than PSU. Michigan is the highest in the Big 10 at #6.
Franklin has been fighting to increase the recruiting budget, staff and off field analysts etc as well as improve facilities, where PSU isn't near the top 15.
All the above plus a bigger pool of $ for assistant coaches. Think of where PSU was in 2011. Progress has been significant in all the above. However, we should not discount the growing pains. I think the on the field results have been good considering all factors.
