It's laka ... nothing is off the table. Zenos could be his drug dealer's place. Or his imaginary friend's house. He never said he'd be at a house in State College!

Pretty sure he said 6-6 last year, how did that work out for him? Another OSU homer- I wonder if there any PSU grads that write about OSU football for the Columbus Dispatch?

One year I was in Columbus for Rock on the Range and my uber driver was a Buckeye beat writer. Ari Wasserman. Arizona dude. Not a PSU guy, but he was cool for being what he was. Seemed more of a job than fandom for him based on the conversation.

So…OSU beat writers have a side hustle being Uber drivers?

Or do Uber drivers have a side hustle as OSU beat writers?

Wait, wut? So now, you're going to host, but leave your wife to do the hosting if you get to go to someone else's house, and if you go to someone else's house, you'll actually be at a bar (I'm assuming Zenos is a bar)? The mind of laka is a scary place. If someone shines a laser pointer at a wall, do you jump around and paw at it?

After watching the final four regular season games and the Rose Bowl- I can honestly attest to the fact that right now Penn State is the program that nobody wants to play. I have not felt that way about Penn State Football in a long, long time.

I am with you. And your post has me very fired up!

There's a great German word, Backpfeifengesicht, that means something close to "face in need of a punch." In German dictionaries, David Jones picture is used as a definition
These days that translates to "my career is dead so I troll for clicks". I can't believe they still give him credentials. He should go back to getting gossip at the bowling alley bar.

Trolling is more effective and more lucrative than being reasonable. It even extended to the highest office of this country (and still does).

They do it because it's easy and it works. I'm not sure why anyone even bothers to read his stuff, but, apparently, many people love to be upset and get themselves all worked up over nothing.

I happened to listen to the podcast. I was on a road trip and decided to take it in on Youtube rather than listen to music.
I don't have a problem with 8-4. I'm thinking 9-3 and hoping for a bit better.
But what struck me was the way Jones empathetically stated that there could be no logical reason why Allar didn't start (at what ever point he thought was appropriate) McGloin let him go for awhile and then explained that while building for the future is a goal.....the coaches obligation is to the more than 100 players currently on the roster, to play every game to win. That includes putting the players who are best equipped to win on the field NOW. Jones sort of switched gears after that.
He hated Joe, he hate James. He's a flea. Much like that snot nose Cory Geiger.....they have a platform and that's the only source of their worth. It certainly isn't in their compensation nor is it in being employed by a prestigious publication .

My neighbor bro bob (DE grad) told me he has lots of State bros and some got a house DE STATE weekend. I’m gonna try and grab some couch if I can
Okay, so you’re saying that you have a Friend 1 who has a Friend 2 who lives in State College, and this Friend 2 potentially has a couch for you to crash on when Delaware visits PSU? I got that right?

First I must say!! Any Penn stater knows that zenos is a bar and any real zenos person went their on Sunday nights for John Cunningham playing and Dave tending bar and managing the place!
ok got that off my chest.

this is the year to go all the way. All the pieces are there. Can’t say 2024 or beyond with college football landscape. Yes we will
Make it more often with 12 but then half to navigate through away games etc. 4 this year is the way to win it all. Time for franklin to make it happen and get psu back on top. I will be there to support our team!!

Franklin should be on the hot seat if we finish 8-4. Here are my position comparisons vs 2022:

QB - possibly worse to start but even by mid season
RB - better
OL - better
TE - even
WR - even

DE - better
DT - worse
LB - better
DB - slightly worse

4 better (OL, RB, DE, LB)
2 worse (DT, DB)

I agree that Allar is unknown but we don't play OSU or Michigan until later in the season. Allar could lose an early game for us but he's not a true freshman. I'd also like to think we can beat either OSU or MICH once Allar gets up to speed. 9-3 would be very disappointing. There's no excuse for 8-4.
With that schedule, anything less than 10-2 is unacceptable. No excuses.

True, he does take that extra step to be negative and condescending most of the time.
00, he is a mole of stupidity seeking intellectual redemption for underachieving academically at University on his parents dime. He is exactly why the media deserved to be shunned from all meaningful conversations about things as vitally important as Penn State Football.

He isn't far off. I think 9-3.

2024 is our year.
I disagree. The Offense has a chance to be very good again in 2024 but the D will lose a ton of players after 2023. We could lose 5 guys off the DL, Jacobs, and 3CBs alone. Asking alot of Allar but the chips for the run, IMO, set up for this season.

Agree. OL, DL, and TE room will look vastly different in 2 years.

Penn State, per usual, will have more talent than any team they play save OSU and Michigan. They should be able to just show up and win ten games. I'm going to be slightly more optimistic this year and say 10-2 with two obvious losses. I think it's possible we could 'Minnesota' a game away to someone like Illinois or maybe Michigan State, but unlikely - just too much talent on offense and a solid D returning (also, no 'key' staff turnover).

Do you really believe any team can just "show up" and win 10 games?
Are we considering a key player or players having a bad day? A key fumble or officials call? a rash of injuries at key positions?
I'd go as far as saying PSU should be able to "show up" and beat U Mass, Delaware, Rutgers, Indiana.....WV and NW would be major upset losses. But beating Maryland, Illinois, Michigan State and Iowa.....by just showing up? LOL

The point remains that PSU has lost at least two regular season games each season since 2016. Could happen again this year.

10 P5 teams won 11 or more games last season. As a PSU fan, I'd love to have them win every single game. I also know from experience that it isn't likely. I'm aware of the record vs Michigan and OSU. What I always wonder is who else is beating both of those teams consistently?
Anyone who is withholding their enthusiasm for the program until PSU beats those programs consistently will be at least as old as I am until they celebrate.
If PSU were in the SEC, would the same "fans" insist we've done nothing until we beat Georgia and Alabama consistently?
I'm always hopeful for a playoff berth. But I'll be damned if I'm going to piss on 4- 11 win seasons in 7 years and 4 NY6 bowls and top 10 finishes. It's likely at least 56 or 65 P5 fan bases would kill for that record.
There are lots of moving parts fans should consider. How many sports do SEC schools support?
Georgia spends more than 4.5 million on recruiting, about 3 X more than PSU. Michigan is the highest in the Big 10 at #6.
Franklin has been fighting to increase the recruiting budget, staff and off field analysts etc as well as improve facilities, where PSU isn't near the top 15.
All the above plus a bigger pool of $ for assistant coaches. Think of where PSU was in 2011. Progress has been significant in all the above. However, we should not discount the growing pains. I think the on the field results have been good considering all factors.
