WTH kind of offense do we try to run???? I get that we are out manned in many games. What kind of offense always uses right at 10 seconds to get the ball across half court, then spends the next 15 seconds with everyone dribbling out around the half court line, then trying to get off some crazy *** shot with one second left.

My favorite thing is to be down by 14 with eight minutes to go and walking the ball up the court. Again, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this in major college basketball. And don’t give me that we don’t have the horses crap, there’s just no reason to keep getting beat by 20 to 50 points. Our style of offense and defense is pitiful and no one in the SEC is playing that lackadaisical defense we play. It’s about effort and x’s & O‘s sometimes. We never get into the one in one until about two or three minutes to go in a half.

I particularly enjoy watching everyone on our team except for Hayden Brown dribble the ball in front of them like they are some wizard and get their pocket picked.. This team is maddening….. and I came into this season with no expectations. You have to be pretty damn maddening to be this disappointing when no one expects anything from you.

The man is entitled to his opinion. We have had season tickets for several years but this has been a very hard season to watch. I had hoped we were past the years when another SEC team comes into our house and they make the CLA sound like it's their place.

Well yeah. But that doesn't mean that the opinions are worth stressing over or constantly sharing ad nauseum. It's a bad team and year. We knew that before the season. OK. We get it.

Just watch the ladies for now. They are really something.

Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Paris could be way in over his head. There are signs...but I'm willing to at least wait on him to rebuild the roster for next year. And it has to be 3 or 4 from the portal who can step right in. Then I feel we'll know more.

If he doesn't have the magnetism to pull in better talent than what he did for this year (GG aside) then he may have a tough time making it to year three. Of course being Ray's hire, he will be somewhat protected.

But even Ray has to be watching this **** with great concern.

It's so hard to say. There's bad and then there's "stuck on 8 wins halfway through your conference schedule" bad. We should have been able to get to double-digit wins just with our non-conference schedule. I'm sure he'll get another year b/c he inherited a roster completely devoid of talent, but if we don't pick up another couple wins at least, I think you at least have to have the conversation.

FM was very hard to watch. I started going to games again when Frank was fired.

He'll get and he deserves two more years.

I don't disagree, but I think you at least have to ask questions if the team keeps losing like we have been. This isn't like Holtz's first season. We got 0 wins, but there were some close losses, but we were well-coached and the team played with heart in spite of the adversity. Even finishing with 0 wins, you could see progress being made.

Not so for this team. The main problem for me is not the talent. We all knew that was going to be a problem. The problem is that we are not well-coached and we are routinely getting shellacked. There's nothing we do better now than we did in Game 1 (that's at least something this team has in common with Frank's teams...no progress during the season). It's not the losing that bothers me, because we all knew this team was going to lose a lot. It's how we're losing and how we look when we're losing. In the NCAAT you see some serious talent mismatches in the first round, but the less talented teams often make up for it to some degree by being well-coached and playing smart basketball. We don't do that. Not at all.

So, yeah, I don't think he will be or necessarily should be fired after this season, but there has to be signs of good coaching next season.

So far, we have seen nothing to suggest he's a good coach.

And yet, when you watched those early teams, you could see competence, effort, & growth. It was obvious they were being coached & developed.

Our current men's team plays a version of pickup basketball.

That's what happens when your roster is made up of pickups.

Let's be realistic. Like it or not, he's going to get 3 years. You don't hire a coach and give him two years.

Don't let Rod change your mind. As usual, he's coming half-cocked. Paris was left with absolutely nothing in terms of talent. I was hoping for better but we are right where I thought we would be.

Surprisingly, we beat Clemson, KY and should have beat UGA. That's something.

If he doesn't show progress next year, he'll get the third year. He'll be gone after 3 if he doesn't turn the corner.

If I were Paris, I would just play a zone defense every game, pack it in and make the other team shoot all 3 point shots. If they hit their 3 point shots then tip the cap but we might get lucky and they might have an off night.

Doing that would show evidence of coaching prowess & intelligence.

I am still a fan of LP, and extremely grateful we don’t hear Frank Martin cussing at players with a 500 record any longer. Frank wore out his welcome but he did a good job for a long time. Lamont, I hope will do well because I like his demeanor. But I did not think it would be this frustrating. Thought we would be making most teams know we were there be still a 500 type team.

hopefully we will start looking a little better next year and we will end the year strong this year. Believe me, this is not a let’s fire a coach thread.

Thorny and company took us to the final four. Frank was along for the ride. He got lucky and recruited several NBA caliber players. Once they were gone, so were the NCAA's. One data point doesn't make a trend.

This crowd woulda run off McGuire in one yr.
Not advocating a hot seat……just want to see hope. He gets a pass this year with a raised bar each year after. But I will continue to watch every second of every game cause that’s what SC fans do. I was just totally irritated last night. Hoping they continue to fight cause you gotta like our players as people as well as our coach. Easy to root for.

It sounds and looks like LP is way over his head. Apparently the current staff is mystified how Frank had any success here.

He is definitely not in over his head by any means - might want to check what he put together heading up the recruiting at Wisconsin when they were creating a lot of problems for folks not just in the Big 10 but also at March Madness - he has another 5 star coming in next year - hopefully the one on the team at this time will learn how to play defense as well as not pout every time something doesn't go his way...a lot of growing up to do.

This team additionally does not have a point guard and lacks any depth at all.

It would be different if we looked like we were organized and had a plan which we executed and still lost.
Having no organization and plan while losing makes it hard to swallow. (and watch)

And how many years did it take Staley to put this program to where it is today. Short answer - not in her first year. So many need to lower their expectations regarding the mens program

Literally nobody expected wins this year. The losses are expected. How they have happened is unacceptable. Lack of effort or care, and a lack of anything resembling a game plan or coaching is the issue. That is not something that just changes based on players coming in or leaving.
