Did Nick E. freakin' quit at halftime like Cam Ward?!

Cam Ward is going to be the NFL draft, from all accounts going quite high, so there is no kicking him off the team, his stats are recorded as an eligible player by the NCAA, so there is no option of removing his statistics. This his third school so if he has course credits toward a degree that can not be taken away.

No one likes the trend, but realistically the only option available would be if indeed the players notified the coach ahead of time, then the coach could have option of playing him. Aside from that I can't think of any other options available
Cam told the team and coach he was going to be a wuss. Low character, but understandable. Nick just quit.

I honestly believe these players are doing this for attention. It gets them extra tv coverage and the media eats it up. If some are afraid of getting hurt and possibly falling in the draft way not opt out once you’re out of contention of a championship

Yeah. Opting out of the bowl is one thing. Opting out part of the way through is a whole different level.

In the link it says nothing about being planned ahead. Perhaps it was planned in his head…but apparently he had not shared the information with anyone else.

No, it wasn't in that story but I mentioned on page 1 of this thread that I'd heard that on the post-game show and it was probably the same source The State used in their story that you mentioned in your early post on page 1.

It seems odd that if he mentioned it to an assistant coach that they wouldn't make Beamer aware of it in advance for fear of repercussions for not doing so.

Our head coach required him to, which was the correct call. If you quit on your team, you shouldn't be on the sideline. Emmanwori is thinking selfishly now, but a day will come later in life where he'll tremendously regret this horrendously selfish decision. I never want to see him honored in any way at any future football game. His quitting could arguably cost us that game. His ability to tackle & help stop opponents' run game was tremendously absent in that 4th qtr. Illinois wouldn't have had the success running the ball had Emmanwori been in there.
I hope to God you are correct.

In a competitive game like this one, how could you quit? His name will be "mud" in gamecock nation for a long time.

Agreed.

It kills the "i don't want to get injured" idea, while also looking crummy.

Yeah, but it's hard to get a free vacation, free entertainment, free swag and lots of good, free food if you don't go at all. :poop:

And even harder for someone to ask for you to give it back... unless they demand you reimburse them for the value of it.

In thinking about this whole deal in the long run the big loser is Nick.He made a terrible decision which unfortunately will paint him with the Scarlett letter Q.The one thing players relish is the camaraderie of the locker room and the life long relationships with teammates.I’d be surprised if these relationships were not irreparably damaged. Its a shame he made such a short sighted decision. As others have said everyone would have been better served for him to just sit out.
