Mixed bag. It made the biggest game of the season against OSU far less meaningful as a loss there didn't matter. It elevated the importance of some other games a bit, but no game on the schedule felt like the big games vs. OSU or UM in past seasons.

Very much so, especially since we’ve been in the thick of it every week. Would suck however if not in it, knowing other bowl games are meaningless. Hope we don’t experience that next year.

It was made more sense when Richard Nixon decided who the champion was. This method is so antiquated. And I hope they get rid of it.

it should be 8
Agree. The four P4 conference winners and top ranked G5 conference winner get autobids. Then 3 at large spots for the inevitable situation where some teams have a very good resume but don't win their conference, possibly due to the new world of no divisions and unbalanced schedules. Top 4 seeds host the first round.

I think that's plenty of teams to ensure the best are included, and it is a small enough number to maintain a lot of meaning for big regular season matchups since one conference loss could still cost you a shot. The huge importance of every regular season game was one of the differentiating factors that made CFB great, and that's gone now as everyone knows one loss isn't a big deal. This would also ensure that more than half of the playoff field is selected objectively based on game results, rather than by idiots in a conference room.

I've thought that from day 1. The opposition back then was that kids would miss school.

I thought 8 teams could play in the traditional major bowls on New Years Day. Only 4 teams would play an additional game and 2 more would play in the championship.

But now that the NCAA and it's member institutions no longer care about education they might as well keep it going until February like the NFL.

These guys are now professional athletes. What did you think was going to happen?

Double that, that like having 32 teams in March Madness.

I am pretty sure the Committee won't make changes for 1-4 this week, and if everything holds to form this weekend PSU would be #4 at the end of the regular season, which is something that they have not been able to do.

I have believed that CJF's biggest issue is not losing to Ohio State - it's losing the second game of the season. Had he not lost to Michigan/Minnesota (2019)/MSU/Pitt (2016), then I think PSU would have made the playoffs, even with an OSU loss - because OSU has consistently been ranked higher (with a couple of exceptions) than PSU.

There are times I miss the pre-BIG days where you would check the sports section in the paper to see bowl possibilities. That was before there were many conference tie-ins.

How is this season any different so far? Do tell. Once the playoffs begin things will be different
