Did the sun come up this morning? Everyone back away from the ledge? Were you not entertained?

Seeing everyone lose their minds makes me think big picture. It's a game that was created to help young men, most not old enough to drink legally or buy alcohol, to burn off excess energy and all that testerosterone.

Did the sun come up this morning? Everyone back away from the ledge? Were you not entertained? Did the earth fall off its axis? Is there anything more important going on in the world? With your life? What's that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It's not like we did something incredibly stupid like run the ball three times in a row down on the goal line for no yards. Oh wait.

The insanity of doing the same crap year after year and expecting different results is mind numbing. Losing doesn’t bother Franklin. If it did he wouldn’t accept the results he’s had doing what he’s doing for the past 10 years in games against top 5
teams.

As fans of this team, we need accept these results just like Franklin accepts them. He will never beat OSU again.

Me at the airport this morning, wearing a PSU jacket:

TSA agent: Tough loss yesterday.

Me: Sadly, it’s the same thing every year.

TSA agent: That’s James Franklin for you.

Me: 😞

TSA agent: Franklin just can’t bring in a top wide receiver who can get downfield.

Me: He used to — Godwin, Hamler, Dotson. Just not the last couple of years.

TSA agent: Maybe he needs more NIL money.

Me: It isn’t really the PSU way, but I can’t argue with you.

TSA agent: That’s the name of the game today.

Me: 😞

I’m such an a$$hole. Seriously, who wears a PSU jacket to Newark Airport the day after that loss? 😞

Yesterday was no biggie. Yes par for the course for a franklin team that we choke at the end against a top 10 team, but good news is we have the 12 team playoff and should be a high seed. So losing that game each year from
Now on is no big deal. Kind of like if a pro team loses. No biggie, next game.

I have deliberately stayed off the internet. 20 hours later, after a decent night's slumber and some consolation watching our little brother get his a$$ spanked by SMU, it's time to venture out into the world again.

This reminds me of the year 1996 when PSU ran 4 straight times on the goal line against Michigan. When you get no push from the line, you get zip.

Then on 4th down, from the 1 yard line, I see 3 receivers in the left quarter of the end zone. I ask (and please remember I haven't been educated by the board's coaches) were there any receivers to Drew Allar's right side?

Now other than that unfortunate (for the good guys) sequence of events, this game was lost because tOSU made a couple of great plays at very critical junctures. I honestly have to tip my cap to them.

I'm not screaming for Franklin's or Kotelnicki's head.

My only true concern here is the post tOSU hangover. PSU cannot afford to lose this game twice.

Not one of those plays a direct snap to far and away our best player on offense. Inexcusable blunder by the coaching staff. It's sunny here in State College this morning but that game was a complete debacle. OSU has a better head coach. That has nothing to do with NIL money. The better coached team always wins this game.

I'm old so these losses get easier emotionally. It still unpleasant going to bed after a loss though. Waking in the middle of the night to the reality of the loss and a slight sinking feeling.

Happy Pitt lost too.
100% concur. Thought about this game last night and couldn’t nod off. Really bothered me. The same same stupid mistakes in every big game. Frustrating as hell

Would be a lot better to be O$U fan.

Losing is for losers.

Time for someone else to get a chance. I believe there are a few football coaches in the USA.

At least you didn't say to the TSA agent, "Yeah, we really bombed".

Blame is the name of the game today. This fanbase deserves a 3-9 season.
You need to give the fanbase a break on this one. What they really deserve is at least one more win versus the Buckeyes. Especially those who travel to Columbus every other year.

My Georgia Bulldog friend empathizes with me. He had to endure the Mark Richt era. Knowing they would win many games and Richt was a great ambassador for UGA.......But rarely won big games.

I stopped getting ON the ledge at all after PSU losses years ago… during some of Joe’s later “off” years to be honest.

There was a time when this kind of moment ruined not just the next 24 hours for me, but the next week at a minimum. Minnesota ‘99 leaps to mind as one of the biggest stingers, but there were others.

Somewhere along the way I managed to shift my perspective and enjoy it when Penn State wins, yet remember the many more important things in life when we lose. I feel bad for our guys when this happens, but I no longer slide into the personal doldrums over it. For some this would be called “settling for less” and I get that, but for me it’s a much healthier approach to this particular interest of mine and a whole lot of other things, honestly.

Hey, remember we’re “lucky to be playing at all” right? I know in late 2011 and for a while thereafter, I could not have envisioned us sniffing 10 or 11 win seasons again in my lifetime… and the SOB ref who said that sure didn’t. So eff him I say — and for me, the best revenge in this case is living reasonably well, even if not natty-elite-level well.

Just my perspective these days, not a lecture to any among us who ARE feeling stronger feels over this.

Agree 100%. Shifting our perspectives has become a necessity. Otherwise, life would be pretty miserable.

Did the sun come up this morning? Yes.

Everyone back away from the ledge? I’d say it’s still probably 50/50.

Were you not entertained? No.

Did the earth fall off its axis? No.

Is there anything more important going on in the world? With your life? Of course. Still just discussing the game on a message board. ;)

What's that definition of insanity? Expecting Franklin to win a big game each year?

It's not like we did something incredibly stupid like run the ball three times in a row down on the goal line for no yards. Oh wait. Not only once but twice. Sort of follows the definition of insanity question.

Yesterday was the usual post loss meltdown day. Today it’ll be the rationalization of the ‘playoff is still possible’ day. Tomorrow will be the PSU BoT sponsored ‘move on’ day. ;)

It is a very similar situation.
