I think historically the max an FCS champion would normally play is 15 games (11 +4 playoff games). That’s why I don’t believe FCS would allow 12+1+4.Just too many games. Most logical would be dropping to 11 regular season and no championship games. The increased payoff from the expanded championship would have to be substantial enough for schools to accept this.
Never have understood the argument or 15 or 16 games being “too much”. These kids at 21 can be starting in the nfl playing preseason 17 regular season games and playoff games. 16 or 17 games is not too much. 365 days does not make that big of a difference and it’s really not that long, it’s really 6 months.

They have done a remarkable job with the four-team playoff. There's never been one where three of them were not incontrovertible and the team that won it deserved to win it. The object, after all, is to identify the best team without a lot of wasted motion messing with pretenders. The four-team playoff did that admirably and, for the most part, left the puppies on the porch. All this expansion is about money and appeasement. Let's just be honest about that.
That may be true. But I will occupy my time watching 16 play 1 at least for a little while depending. But I’m not watching the “who gives a ****” bowl. Bring on 12 teams.

Not to mention playing 15 or so games may even compel coaches to play their bench more often... use more of their team. That may not be such a bad thing given the portal world we live in now.

Obviously, it's what the little guys are pushing for.

I just don't see the logic. No MWC, MAC or AAC team is winning the title. Period.

Speaking of expansion in general, not the 16-team format specifically, Sankey said " "I don't think it's healthy for college football and college football globally that a West Coast team has not been in the playoff since 2016. … It's a national game." Why is not healthy for college football? Who cares where the best teams come from. The pros don't try to rig the system to get a certain geographical representation in the finals. SoCal had the CFP there for the taking, and they crapped the bed against Utah. How is that the playoff's fault?

In a 16-team format, the finalists would play 17 games. Lunacy.

How many games are played to get the Final Four in college basketball and the College World Series in baseball? Why should football be any different?
Its a test of teamwork, skill, consistency, stamina and depth and the best combination of all comes out on top. Same requirements at the professional level.

Percentage of participation. Sponsors pay for appearances & media presence. Sitting out sounds like neither
They are not paying for an appearance in a game. They are paying for an autograph or an autograph session at their dealership or a commercial.
