to the rumor that James Franklin has signed a long term contract and that a commitment to substantially upgrade facilities is tied to it? So many things out there, just wondering if anyone has heard this? Supposedly, recruits, parents etc. are all aware and I'm wondering if true, when it will be announced? Anyone?

It’s been reported on multiple sites that he is negotiating a ten year deal with substantial upgrades to facilities. Not signed yet as he wants more money but could be signed and announced within next couple weeks.

What I heard is that it is done and players, coaches, commits etc. are all informed. Also heard it was a 10 year deal.

If the 10 year rumor is true, based on actuarial tables, fire Franklin threads are now projected to have longer life spans than many of us on the Board.
I hope the threads don’t last that long.

Where has it been reported? Link?

Oh, and maybe being able to pickup 2.5 yards on the ground when you need it…
You're not thinking big enough...3.5 yards baby!
No body asked me, but I could fix the problem. Tie 25% of his salary to a successful yards per carry ratio, and we would be storming up and down the field. I’ll be back later with more brilliant 💡.

Care to expand??

Nothing specific nor would I give away paywall info.

But our insiders on both sites are pretty legit - it's so cheap I highly recommend signing up for whichever is preferred. Also, I've noticed a lot of paywall information is discussed at lengths on each site's FREE podcasts. People ask questions around here looking for inside info, without realizing Ryan or whomever else touched on it in length in his podcast. Just a recommendation.

It's been rumored for a while that Franklin was bartering for an extension plus significant facility/resource upgrades - some of the information is now becoming available behind a paywall.

If you haven’t lowered your expectations yet, let me tell you something my friends, NOW is the time. 8-4 and 7-5 in perpetuity baby!
Joe warned about lowered expectations, but that was relative to NC's in 1982 and 1986. Even he, from his grave, would not agree with a contract extension for a coach who:

a) doesn't teach nor insist on football fundamentals (e.g. tackling, blocking, place-kicking etc), and
b) is a net negative on the sidelines, complete with his crossed-arms, muttered F-bomb drops at his own team, and repeated poor clock management, and
c) is addicted to "explosive plays" to the point that it actually harms the team's overall performance, and
d) is a horrible judge of capability in his Asst Coaching hires and abilities/potential with many of his shiny-object 4* recruits.

I'll stop now, but if this BOT gives CJF a contract extension beyond his already one-sided, self-enriching version, I'll be done with PSU Football. You all can enjoy nothing other than a series of 7-5 seasons.

I look forward to 6-6, 7-5, and an occasional 8-4 season with a win over tOSU every ten to fifteen years. I hope that CJF gets the ten-year deal and the upgrades, with the result that there is no appreciable improvement in the team's won loss record. I can't take the excitement of even the thought of meaningful PSU games in November. Now back to my old-man, after dinner nap. I'm spent. :)

Has to be fake news. I"ve been reading on this site and others that everyone has turned on him. They are tired of his name being tied to other positions and his responses to those rumors; his game coaching; his inability to develop players; and his mediocre record.

People willing to settle for less often do.

A man with no better options. I hope PSU's BOT doesn't perpetuate their previous stupidity by extending the clown's contract.
What is a "better option" than a lifetime deal with no pressure to win? Sounds good to me. :) Hey. Take heart. The Carolina Panthers are now 5-5, and Matt Rhule will probably end up staying there for at least a couple more seasons anyway. Tell you what. If you behave, I'll send you a Cam Newton jersey for Christmas.

I know I'm an impressionable individual, but even I am amazed that you have apparently seen the light. It's refreshing to learn that others have an appreciation for "performance pay"....accomplishments get rewarded....significant accomplishments get highly rewarded.

Underperformance, especially relative to compensation, means we need to have a "discussion".
