Dan has improved our team. They got better each week. We lost a bidding war, and I'm pissed off at either our boosters for not ponying up enough money or Cam's Dad for funneling him to a school where the only thing that they have over MSU is "name" recogniton, which I don't think would really help him get to the NFL. That's not Dan's fault.
I mean, Dan at least knows where we have problems on the roster, and he at least tries to fill in those holes instead of recruiting 12 DE's from Alabama and a snapper.
That said, I think this situaiton lends credence to Mullen wanting to try to clean out Mississippi. The fact of the matter is, we're much more likely to get a QB like a Newton if he's from our state. I wished the last staff had realized what Dan does about this.
And not only that, Dan at least has a back-up plan. We're going to get the guy from California for depth and maybe he competes for the starting job, although I think Russell beats him out, nonetheless, he's someone that can be a potentially quality back-up for us. Then we get Favre, the Mississippi player of the year, who has a big time name, and who knows how he turns out, but maybe Dan can RS him and he can maybe start by the time he is a senior. If nothing else, we have increased our depth at QB, and we don't have to worry about Bumphis being the QB and running the Wildcat every play.
We're getting some pretty good guys like Jameon Lewis, Micheal Carr, Curtis Virges, we're probably going to get Wells and we are getting Euells. Robert Johnson looks like a pretty good player, and then Rajion Neal. We're also probably going to get Damien Robinson, who I think can be pretty good with some coaching, and probably Day from West Monroe. I think it's going to be a pretty solid class.
And then we already have verbal commitments from three of Mississippi's top juniors this past year- Redmond, CJ Johnson, and Chief Brown.
