Neither does SyracuseMiami has ZERO defense
No, we need for everyone a little ahead of us to get dinged.Well now that the head to head is out of the way and we beat them, we want them to look as good as possible right? A win over a power 4 conference champ is good for the resume.
Miami also has no wins over a ranked team.Miami has ZERO defense
Well of course, but we’re talking about Clemson. If head to head is the reason we might get left out of the playoff, then we certainly want Clemson to look like a powerhouse since they shouldn’t be ranked ahead of us for that sole reason. No, we need for everyone a little ahead of us to get dinged.
Sadly it seems SOS has been made less important in the rankings itself. We have to find away to pry the rankings out of the hands of the committee using a predetermined formula. Get on the spot human decisions out of it. Call me pro- A.I. No one should ever be in the top 20 or so without defeating a ranked team this by this time of year. And this is a major problem this new playoff format is bringing. You're going to have undeserving conference Champs from undeserving conferences getting seeds because of pathetic competition. Tonight Clemson has a much better chance of a playoff than this morning even though they lost today. No football program in their right mind would want to leave a weak conference now.
You need to be hoping they lose to SMU. That covers every angle with respect to them.Well of course, but we’re talking about Clemson. If head to head is the reason we might get left out of the playoff, then we certainly want Clemson to look like a powerhouse since they shouldn’t be ranked ahead of us for that sole reason.
That was my objection to expanding the playoff from the beginning. All we have done is added pretenders. But the pretenders could affect the outcome by injuring players from better teams that have to play them. And this is a major problem this new playoff format is bringing. So you are saying we have a chance to be a pretender? That was my objection to expanding the playoff from the beginning. All we have done is added pretenders. But the pretenders could affect the outcome by injuring players from better teams that have to play them.
Exactly. So you are saying we have a chance to be a pretender?
If you’re like me, and been a Game pick fan long enough, you know that that is PRECISELY what is going to happen. clemson with that horseshoe planted firmly…..Now we just need smu to beat the **** outa clempson. If we can't get in. I sure as **** don't want them in. Be a travesty
clemson is the primary reason that I hate the automatic bids. NO AUTOMATIC BIDS! Top 12 teams regardless of conference standings or affiliation get seeded in the cfp.And this is a major problem this new playoff format is bringing. Call me pro all automatic bids. Top 16 in computer rankings. 16 meaning no byes. No human feelings. Data based only. I dont care what the experts think or feel. Let them be as surprised as I am.clemson is the primary reason that I hate the automatic bids. NO AUTOMATIC BIDS! Top 12 teams regardless of conference standings or affiliation get seeded in the cfp.
Exactly. Still bound to be some unworthy ones, but don't further build unworthiness into it through automatic bids that will inevitably admit the undeserving. Use computers or whatever, but get the 12 best teams.clemson is the primary reason that I hate the automatic bids. NO AUTOMATIC BIDS! I'm good with a Sagarin-type matrix, since it washes out the automatic conference champion inclusion, which is fallacious.Call me pro all automatic bids. We can’t SMU to beat them. If not the playoffs will take both Clemson and SMU pretty much guaranteeing we are out.Well now that the head to head is out of the way and we beat them, we want them to look as good as possible right? A win over a power 4 conference champ is good for the resume.
They really do find a way to drag their feet when it comes to relinquishing their power.I tend to agree that some undeserving teams will get in year. If that happens there will be pressure to tweak the system. Whether or not they change it is anyone’s guess.
I would love to see it, but to me, they are an unknown quantity. Are they big enough for the moment?SMU will boat race clemmy
No automatic bids of any kind whatsoever. Straight computer-derived strength indexes using criteria that are weighted the same for everybody.I think their should be 16 teams in the FBS playoff. The champion of every FBS conference gets an automatic bid. Nobidy can rightly say the the MAAC champ is superior to the team which finished 3rd in the SEC, but IMO it's important for the integrity of FBS for each champion to dance.
And if the #16 seed Sun Belt champ can beat the #1 seed on the road, they deserve to move on.
They don't deserve to be there if their strength index doesn't measure up.I think their should be 16 teams in the FBS playoff. The champion of every FBS conference gets an automatic bid. FIFYBut Syracuse leading Miami in the fourth quarter. If they hold, Clemson plays SMU in the AAC championship game. The winner walks into the playoffs.
