Headed to Nebraska with Rhule. Huge family history at Nebraska as his father and uncle both played there and his uncle is the oline coach at Nebraska. Rhule just floated out a meme of the undertaker on Twitter... Nice flip for Rhule and should help to land others

True. But the last time Nebraska was relevant these recruits parents were still in college. Nebraska has been a doormat for these kids entire lives and Lincoln probably isn’t a big destination spot for 17-19 yr olds.
Well, the #1 QB flipped from Ohio State to Nebraska so...

JGF will out-recruit Rhule, but NU will be better if you see them pull kids from TX where he did well while at Baylor. The good news is that OSU is under new pressure with the two new CA teams and the two new coaches. If we get one the WRs who can take the top off of defenses, we will be just fine. WE ARE...

There is currently one PA kid on the Iowa roster. There are two NJ kids on the Wisconsin roster. I think it's been the quality, not the quantity. Wisconsin did especially well with Ron Dayne and Jonathan Taylor.
The back breaker for PA kids going to Iowa was Tim Dwight and Bob Sanders going there from Erie Prep, but that was a long time ago.

I didn't know that but getting the #1 QB in the country will certainly help offensive recruiting moving forward.
His father is in the Nebraska HOF as an All American Offensive Linemen. His uncle was also an Offensive Lineman at Nebraska and was retained as OL coach by Rhule when he took the job there. Yes, getting the #1 QB will help, but they still have an uphill battle and I wouldn’t expect this to become a routine occurrence in Lincoln. As others have said, Nebraska made a living in the past recruiting TX, OK, and CA. Moving to the B1G cut off that pipeline for them, but with Rhule’s experience recruiting TX for Baylor, it should be better.

I believe Tim Dwight was from Iowa City.

Donovan Raiola, current OL coach at Nebraska, played at Wisconsin.

I meant Ed Hinkel. My mistake. He and Sanders were on some really good Erie Prep teams prior to going to Iowa. And yes, You are correct, Donovan Raiola played at Wisconsin and is the current OL coach at Nebraska. Dominic (Dylan’s father) was an offensive lineman at Nebraska. Regardless, there’s a strong family Nebraska connection. It’s not like they picked Nebraska totally out of the blue since Rhule took over.
Full disclosure: I typed the above posts after getting home from a Christmas party and enjoying a few adult beverages. Apologies.

Well Rhule just picked up a commitment from a Safety out of Phily with a PSU offer Rahmir Stewart.

Good for him. I hope Rhule finds some success there. He’s a good coach and seems like an even better person. If he ends up at PSU some day, I’d be happy to see him here. However, fretting about him getting recruits out of PA at PSU’s expense seems very premature. Stewart last visited PSU in 2021 which tells you all you need to know about his interest in PSU and possibly PSU’s interest in him. On top of that, if you look at the 24/7 safety recruit rankings, Stewart is ranked #61 safety in the nation and the 12th ranked overall player in PA. Conversely, Franklin and PSU currently have verbal commitments from 4 of the top 13 ranked safeties in the nation. People can criticize Franklin for some things, but recruiting is not one of them. PSU is casting a much wider net these days in recruiting and Rhule probably still has connections with Imhotep from his days at Temple, which probably led to him landing Stewart. Best of luck to Stewart and Rhule. PSU is just fine.

Yeah i doubt Stewart was a take for PSU, but Rhule will be recruiting Pa hard.

Maybe I’m being naive, but I don’t see him enticing PA kids to Nebraska.
Rhule has signed two high 3 stars player from PA. One from Harrisburg and the other from Philly. 247 has Nebraska's 2023 class as top 25.

Meanwhile, PSU has signed 6 of the top 11 from Virginia, and all of them rated higher than the PA kids.

So, advantage.....James.

The Harrisburg kid is the ultimate "project". Hopefully he works out at Nebraska.
Just to clear up a misconception, the QB, Raiola, has not committed to Nebraska. He decommitted from OSU and reopened his recruitment. It would be huge for Rhule to land him. But the kid is being heavily recruited by USC, GA and Clemson. So family ties or not, that will be a tough one for Matt.

I agree, but to say Rhule won't be recruiting PA and specifically the PA/Harrisburg area isn't true. It's what he knows. He had very little time to build relationships so getting 2 PA kids is actually impressive considering the Huskers said they aren't going the NIL route. Who knows what he might do with more time to build relationships, and I'm not a Rhule guy. Like I said, he needs to stay the eff out of PA.

Wonder why Franklin and Scott didn't go after the big DT from CD East.

Looks like the kind of big framed DT that could help PSU get bigger along the front 7, which Franklin regularly talks about doing after losses but hasn't seemed to do much about so far......

He is comparable to guys like Darkwa and Mulbah. Intriguing size and athleticism but so raw that it is questionable as to whether he would ever play at PSU. Hopefully PSU has passed the stage of having to take on projects like that. Also, PSU viewed him as an OT, not a DT.

^^^This^^^ While the kNU connection is a nice story, my hunch is that the kid lands at a big time program. He’ll want the NFL and getting there will be easier at Ga, Clemson or USC.
