It was Maddox, who is the slot CB and was out most of the season with an injury. He's playing safety tonight at Blankenship's spot due to Blankenship's injury. In that context, I'm willing to give him some slack.
I can’t Tom With the D they called he was effectively the slot corner man to man on Godwin. That was piss poor technique

Tell me how this drafting strategy has gotten better ? We had 2 first rounders this yr We have 1 that might become a player and the other?

jalen Carter might become a player??? And you’re saying the Aghlor and Reaghor picks are on par with picking Smitty and jalen Carter? Ok… now I KNOW you’re running on pure emotion. Go to bed man….

Jalen Carter is a terrific young player. We'll see on Nolan Smith. I am beginning to worry that Howie repeated his Carson Wentz mistake with Jalen Hurts. One truly good season followed by huge, long-term money followed by mediocrity followed by who knows what?

What you witnessed over the last two months is an entire team quitting on their head coach because of his blind loyalty to his two terrible coordinators. Sirianni needs to be fired in the plane home tonight. The only coach who can stay is Stoutland. And James Bradberry needs to be sent to Afghanistan. Dude should never suit up in the NFL again. He has been a joke all season.

If he’s the player he’s going to be why didn’t he take over tonight? If he’s that player why is his snap count so limited?
there are some calling Jordan Davis a bust.

Nick is toast. Hire Hairball and get some linebackers finally. They could have had Parsons in the draft. This team looks old and tired. It’s time to rebuild!
I can't see Harbaugh coexisting with Lurie. There are too many personality similarities with Chip Kelly. I can see Lurie making a big push for Belichek or Vrabel. Both can fix the issues on defense and hire a competent OC to get the offense back.

We ll see I don’t think Wentz tanked until they picked Hurts and Wentz freaked out. I don’t know why.

I think if they win 2 of the last 3 and keep this one close then yeah, give him a cushion. But the way this team collapsed and there appears to be drama in the locker room, no way. When the coach loses the team there’s no coming back from that.

EDIT: I will say though, whatever they’re gonna do they better do it fast. Carroll, Belichek, Vrabel…. Lot of coaches out there with a lot of openings. Heck, Dallas might be another opening here soon. Granted they’re in free agent purgatory this offseason but it’s dallas
It will be interesting to see what they do. I can’t remember more of a totally epic collapse from such a talented team ever.

-Started 10-1.
-Ended 1-6.
- 11-7 overall record for the year (with fans wearing bags on their heads like the 70s/80s).

Yeah I never played organized football. We played pick up games every Saturday. And even I know you don’t tackle the shoulders. Bradberry’s attempted tackle on that rookie was absolutely inexcusable. He’s gotta go.

And you’re 1000000% right. They gave up on Sirianni. There is absolutely no coming back from that. He and Dasai and Patricia and Johnson are gone. But that’s a terrible double edged sword, because it’s gonna take at least a season with 3 new coords to get some continuity which means Smitty’s contract is up, goedert’s is close to being done, Johnson is probably retired….. are we ok giving up next season to build?

You’re probably right. Harbaugh isn’t an easy fit. The New England love by Lurie would make Belichek more likely but I can’t stand the guy. But it’s not my money or team.

A talking head mentioned today something about firing your coach. Do you have a replacement for them. And the coach you just fired would anyone else want to hire them. And if so you might want to keep him
i don’t think Nick would be on the market long

Nick's only path back to being an NFL head coach is a successful stint as a coordinator. Maybe for Steichen or Gannon. No owner would hire him right now. See one C. Kelly and his disastrous stint in SF after being fired in Philly.

What's the old adage? Never try to catch a falling knife?

Sure they would. Heck someone hired Jonnath Gannon and we wanted to fire him too. An owner wants to interview our OC. So there’s that. I think Carolina would snap Nick up. I think Arthur Blank would too. He wouldn’t last long.

I don’t agree that you need that long to build. In fact I think they can make a deep playoff run next year. You have a team of ballers here. They need strong leadership. I know the NFL has leaned toward offensive coaches but you put a guy like Vrabel at HC here and I think good things happen. Not sure in Belichick could work with Howie. Probably not. I’d go Vrabel. Good fit for Philly.

I’m not sure who I’d want as OC but it would have to be some with a very solid pedigree. Maybe go get a guy like Kellen Moore if he doesn’t land as a HC somewhere. He isn’t staying in LA…

I also wouldn’t mine Kirby Smart as HC in Philly. lots of his former players in the squad and our ownership + Howie is close with the program. I know we’re all a bit sensitive from the Chip Kelly disaster, but Kirby is worth a look IMO.

Yeah, I don't want to relive the harbaugh SF debacle. It wouldn't surprise me if lurie is enamored with BB.

The problem is that BB is 71. How much gas is left in the tank? And does he really want to win another title vs catch Shula’s all time wins record?

Are you sure if that ? I m not convinced

Totally different dynamics. They let Nick pick his replacements at OC and DC in the offseason. Unfortunately, they both seem to be lacking
Louis Riddick just pointed out that Nick isn’t making all of these picks. He’s convinced of that. You think Nick fired SD mid season? You think Nick hired Matt Patricia ? I don’t neither does Louis

Yeah Vrabel or Belichik would be good for this team. They need a Dan Campbell type of edge about them. Sirianni's edge was just cocky and $h!t talking. that's fine when you're the biggest kid on the block, and when you're not it doesn't work. IMO SF broke this team, because Sirianni couldn't shift gears when he got punched in the mouth. Tyson's quote is very apropos.

and I think Belichik would work well here. He's got the demeanor that I want this team to have, he's a great defensive mind, and he's great at gametime decisionmak, ing. Only issue is that he operates best with a GM that stays out of his business (which howie clearly doesn't do. although i'd love to see him realize he needs to leave football to football people), however that bit him in the rear offensively. If he brings in a great OC, he would work perfectly IMO
