It’s disturbing how easily the Chiefs drove down the field their first drive of each half.
That has been a hallmark of Reid coached teams forever. The Eagles used to do that during the McNabb era all the time. I always attributed it to Reid being deadly when given time to scheme. They often scored on the first drive and coming out at halftime. The area he struggled with back then was adjusting as the game went on. He seems to have worked that out.

All in all a very good game. But, I never thought KC would put up 31 points against the Eagles defense. That was disappointing.
Considering the birds brought in the " defenisve guru" Fangio to allow that mess is really the problem. Defense was excellent all year then you do this and walla your get your result. If it aint broke dont fix it

What was up with Kelce blabbering about "none of the media picking the Chiefs to win this year"???

The league and media have had a love fest with Mahomes and the Chiefs for 5yrs now. Someone please check Kelce for CTE.

Imagine how insufferable he's gonna be at the Kelce family Memorial Day BBQ. Geez what a tool.
You must have missed that all of the persons on the Fox pre-game show predicted an Eagles victory and several by a comfortable margin.

Because the NFL has made the following clear, no need to fear the opposing defense. Team owners, Lawsuits and Tom Brady forced the NFL to basically neuter a defenses ability to neutralize a rushing QB or a WR cutting across the field. If the Eagles had 90 seconds on the clock they would have tied or won the game. Steve Young touched on this subject about 10 years ago and received harsh criticism. More recently Trent Dilfer made a similar comment as well. Both QB's basically responded to your comment Lion Jim. The game has gotten too "easy" for QB's and WR's to march down the field. I'm not suggesting that we go back to the 1980's but if we are going to be honest the NFL has implemented rules that make a QB's & WR's stats borderline fraudulent.

No conspiracy, no complaining, just a borderline call that should not have been called. The Eagles made too many errors in the 1st half or else they would have been leading by 14 or more at halftime. The Chiefs played really well in the 2nd half and scored on every possession.

The idea of J. Hurt rushing for a record breaking 70 yards and Mahomes the second leading rusher with 44 yards just behind Pacheco proves that a defenses "for the most part" are handcuffed.
No whining or complaining but the call should not have been made. Nice contradiction in a single sentence.

I read that Fangio was there to prep the offense based on his understanding of the KC defense. It sounds like they needed a consultant for the defense too!

ok but why did they wait until the 58th minute of the game to call the first holding call O or D? There werent any on the punts? Orlando Brown is a penalty machine and he gets on calls??
Maybe I missed something but didn't the Eagles have a 10 point lead at half? Didn't the Chiefs score on every possession in the second half, including 2 short TD passes which were virtually the same play on each side of the field with no Eagle defender in the same zip code? Zero sacks for the vaunted Eagles DL last night. Eagles have no one to blame for this loss but themselves.

that may all be true (you forgot the punt return) but it still doesnt explain why in the 58th minute they decided to call the one and only holding call against either team.

I’ve never understood the ‘thinking‘ that penalties should not be called at the end of a game.

I don't have a problem with calling the penalty if they were consistent and calling it tight the whole game. The refs weren't calling it tight all game. They were letting them play. Players don't have a problem with penalties as long as the refs call it consistent the whole game and the players adjust. Therein lies the problem that refs suddenly decide to call it tight with 2 mins to go in the game and insert themselves into the game and deciding who wins.

The call ruined a great game. The entire country was waiting to see what Hurts could do with 1:30 to go, down a FG.

It was golfer tested and approved they said. They said it would be fine. Carl Spackler can install it.

Exactly.... And the NFL wonders why people say the league is rigged. Well their poster boy Brady retired so I assume the new poster boy is Mahomes.

Are you suggesting the fix was in? Because I agree it was a bad call. All I'm saying is that the rules of today's game contributed to that bad call. Refs are inclined to make ticky tacky calls as opposed to letting the teams play.

If it were PSU on offense and that same holding were not called, we’d be screaming bloody murder. The Eagles made their bed. It was really clever of Kansas City to put an Invisibility Cloak on their TE for the first drive.

I did not watch the game but have relatives in both cities. I would have preferred a Philly win but had happy inlaws either way. I spoke with both sides this morning and watched replays of "the call", plus various other clips. My take? The call did not cost the Eagles the game. Their play in the last 28 minutes did that. As an aside, the Anti-Super Bowl Party I attended last night was terrific. As I expected, when good friends gather to eat, drink, and share each other's company, outside the restricted environment of an athletic event, the result is often memorable, and it was. That said, I understand it was also a memorable Super Bowl, but many here found the ending less so. To them I promise this:

The NFL and activists have pushed for making the game more safe. Ticky tacky calls are now a part of the game. That call is never made in Super I.
Making the game safer?
Oh, the horror of it all!
And who are these ”activist” devils? Who are they to interfere with our entertainment?

Just imagine the Eagles with the ball, ready to go ahead in the final minutes, getting a call to essentially ice the game and Bkmtnittany1 saying "The entire country was waiting to see what Mahomes could do with 1:30 to go, down a FG.

So then why did very important calls go in the Eagles' favor? Questionable catches, questionable catches/fumbles, etc?

Eh, it was a defensible call that happened at an unfortunate time of the game. I don't think refs should call the game differently at the end than they would at any other portion of the game, so if you can provide proof of jersey pulls impeding cuts in the officials' direct line of sight that weren't called earlier, I'd be interested.

Juju was held blatantly earlier in the game. The ref let it go and JuJu yelled at the same guy who threw the flag. If you did not toss the flag the first time you don’t throw it at the end of the game. There were zero holds called until there is a hold with two minutes left

You mean like Smith's catch being called incomplete even thought video evidence showed differently, the holding call at the end, the missed endless holding calls by their oline which is a holding machine. My hunch is you have to ask the masses why they feel the nfl is rigged.
