I liked him going for 2 especially from the 1. You can get 2 pts and all you have to do is travel 1 yd? that to me is a no brainer, I'd do it every time. (except of course if kicking it wins the game)
I can see going for 2 if you're behind and need the points, or if it's late in the game and getting 2 forces the other team to get an extra point or puts you up by 3 or something like that. Otherwise, if you're ahead and it's other than the 4th quarter, the better option to me is to take the "sure" points and not leave them on the field. The objective is, after all, to win by scoring more points than the other team. Sure, 2 is greater than 1, but if the chances of getting the 2 vs the 1 are much less, why not take the (virtually) sure thing?
If getting one yard was that easy...well, Penn State would've beaten OSU by one point this past weekend. They did, after all, have 4 chances to put it in from the 3 yard line - should be able to get those 3 yards in three downs, right?

And then punch in the 2 point conversion.
