Well tOSU might be looking for an opponent for the last game of the season for a few years. Why not us? 😏
Have you completely lost your F’ing mind. What a ridiculous statement, that GAME is sacrosanct, tens of millions of lives are dependent on it. It’s why millions set aside their families, livelihood and dare I say they’re reasons to live.

It would be funny though if we went all the way and they didn’t actually play each other one year. Suicide rates would skyrocket, and methadone clinics overwhelmed.

Most disappointing "normal" football year was 1988. Being spoiled by the 2 National titles, undefeated seasons, and then having a season in which we lose to Rutgers.... at home.... coached by Dick Anderson.... former PSU coach ..... was a real low point in football memory.

30 years ago we had class on Monday and Tuesday all day and until 12 on Wednesday. I was very thankful that one of my engineering labs was canceled for Tuesday afternoon and all professors canceled Wednesday mornings classes.
What is the current policy on holidays with the commons dining halls? If they weren’t open yesterday, that makes it much tougher for kids who might want to stay for the game.

It filled in a bit more after that, but you have to remember that the students started Thanksgiving break on Friday. Many left campus Thursday and most of campus was empty by Friday evening.

don’t they lock the students out of the dorms? If so, what do they expect?

Yes. I'm just spitballing. How about you give those students that attend the game a pre sale for next season's season tickets. There's plenty of ways to get rear ends in seats with creative thinking. (Student season tickets are in VERY high demand and sell out very quickly)

The real answer is schedule a good opponent each year. UM and tOSU sell out their game with students on break like ours.

I think it's a stretch to say that tOSU and UM students are on break like PSU's students.

PSU's break begins on 11/19 (which is 11/18 for 99% of the students, as most don't have Saturday classes)

tOSU and UM begin their Thanksgiving breaks on 11/22, so their students have classes on Monday and Tuesday of the week of Thanksgiving.

But they'll fill the stadium either way after Thanksgiving. What did our student section look like last year the Saturday after Thanksgiving against Michigan State?

they will, but I think that's also an apples/oranges comparison. That is The Game for them, and in many years past (and this year) determines which of them plays in the B1G Championship. Despite what the B1G tried to create between PSU and MSU, and the Land Grant trophy, there just isn't the same feeling between PSU & MSU as there is between tOSU and Michigan. Also, PSU's students have shown in past years, if the game was critical (either the Sat. before or after Thanksgiving), that they'll stick around/return early if need be.

Agree. But why not give incentive for students to attend? I'm not sure folks here know how hard it is for students to get season tickets. It's like Tickemaster for a Taylor Swift concert. If they did something simple like I said with students that attend get priority, then the student section would be filled. This all matters because parents will attend to tailgate and hang with their kids. We could really fill the stadium easily. 😉

You haven’t lived Penn State football my young friend until you have your national Championship hopes dashed by Minnesota at home, witness a loss to Toledo at home, or endure a 6-4 loss that set football back 100 yrs. That’s disappointment young buck.
I was at all 3 of those games! Still haven’t fully recovered from the 1999 Minnesota loss😨.

1999 definitely number 1 all time because of the expectations going into the season. 1978 and 1985 because we lost the. National championship game and 1981 we were knocked out of number 1 by losing to Miami in the orange bowl, but I have to say for franklin 2023 is right up there!!!

There are schools that do something like this. I forget where but read about some where students accumulate points for attending athletics events, all sports not just football and basketball. Then when tickets are allocated, those with the highest points from attendance get first priority.

The whackos on the Michigan board are convinced they're going to sign Jim to a contract extension.
Nope, its over. I wouldn't be surprised if Jay Harbaugh is the next sacrificial lamb.
NCAA will levy Show Cause decisions on Jimmer and both coordinators. There is a slim chance that an intentional firewall was built around the HC....but both Coordinators are in on it up to their necks. I hope Moore goes pro with Harbs....otherwise, he'll be crying real tears come February.

There are 133 Division 1 football teams. At 9-2, Penn State is ranked 11th. The team is ranked better than 122 other teams. Enjoy the season!
Double check your math.

PSU is dead last. In everything. All the time. We are the Washington Generals of D-1 football.
