Retreat to advance.
I do not hate the coach. I do not know him. I do not have an opinion on his personal life or behavior. I am solely critical of his lack of accomplishment in things that matter. I do not care about victories over Delaware or Buffalo.

I do not believe he is an "elite" coach, nor is his program elite. Ironic he set that as the standard in probably the worst postgame press conference in the history of postgame press conferences. That's on him.

I know we can do better than him. How? Many teams (Washington, LSU, TCU, tOSU, Michigan, Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma to name a few) have hired replacement coaches in the time PSU has had Bottom Feeder on the sideline. They have won their conferences, appeared in the playoffs, or played in or won national championship games. I do know he has an awful record against ranked teams, 1 conference championship in ten years, and he fattens his record with victories over inferior teams. Even his B1G record is meh.

If he left today a successor who could match his "accomplishments" would be easy to find.

I don't know about that, but I do know Nebraska:

When they wanted to build a new facility for football (and other stuff) - a facility 3X bigger than the Lasch Building, at a cost of ~$160 Million (PSU has spent $100 Million in recent renovations to Lasch, FWIW, almost all of it via Debt) - they went out and raised the money from donors.
They raised 1/2 - then broke ground and started construction while they raise the rest. that facility is now up and running. They had raised ~$120 M before they even cut the ribbon.

They are also looking at major renovations to their football stadium (in many ways mirroring the "rumored" :) possible Beaver Stadium renovations)
Their potential price tag? $450 M. They are in the process of raising that money now - and will adjust plans down if they can't do that (but past history says they will raise the bulk of it from donors)
PSU? Rumored $700 M - to be "paid for" via debt. Not aware of any "capital campaigns" planned to raise the money first. Time will tell.

All in all, Nebraska has a solid recent history of being able to get their boosters to sign checks.

How will that carry over to NIL? Who knows? Of course, NIL as we know it (in its current incantation - which changes by the week) is likely dead within the next year or two.
Pennsylvania Germans are typically cheap tightwads. Except when it comes to cholesterol-laden food. Maybe we can offer recruits pretzel and doughnut shop franchises. Worth a try. Where’s Utz when you need them?
