So how much do folks think Barkley is worth right now? It’s his 5th year option year and he’s making $7.2 million.

He’ll be a UFA after the season. What would a team give up for one definite season and then the right to offer a dicey extension (based on position, not purely on the player)?

I think the G-men are outright begging for someone to take on the $7.2 million this year. I can’t see anything more than a third rounder coming back to them. It’s a punt type of situation because even if Barkley is amazing in 2022, you have the risky extension issue. Second contacts for RBs have been awful for teams lately. Awful.

Recognizing that drastic measures are required, with any and all options on the table, is what it takes to turn around a franchise that has been mired in a string of embarrassing seasons.

As the COO of a major corporation that I worked for used to say: "If I'm F'ed up with you, I can be F'ed up without you"

Lots of change going on in Buffalo now. Would be a great time for him make clean break and be on a team with a ton of potential. Fingers crossed.
Yeah, I think he would be a great fit and another dangerous weapon. Only issue is the Bills need CBs, OL and DL. His salary against cap may be another issue. Offensive weapons would be nice also. If Dotson is available at 25 I hope they grab him. He would be a great slot receiver for them and more dangerous than Beasley.

Barkley will not do well in Buffalo, the weather can be miserable and ice cold. He was a great college back, but always a finesse back, not the bruising run in between the tackles RB the Giants were wishing to get. Barkley needs a different playbook, but what would help the most a warmer climate or at the very minimum a dome.

Are you sure about being an UFA after the season?? I thought if they wanted the team could tag him ala Kirk Cousins

Gee, have you noticed the Bills aren’t a bruising run team? Barkley would be able to play in playoffs for the first time in his career. Colts? They have Jonathan Taylor

Yes, he will be an UFA. Teams can always slap a tag on a guy though. I doubt they’d tag Saquon. It seems like they don’t want to pay him 7.2 million a year. A tag would make him even more expensive.

Pointing being if you did trade for him and he did have.a break out year, you could tag him if you wanted and see what happens

It is really hard to know what Barkley has left in the tank. Last year was coming off of the ACL so he was likely not quite 100%. Couple that with Jones missing 6 games and the team generally not being very good it is no wonder he looked bad. Their top WR had less than 600 yards. The team is a mess. I think that both Jones and Barkley are great blocks to build the offense around but they might just be too far away at this point for either to be successful.

I'm really hoping that they trade him. With their cap issues they are years away from being competitive

I would love to have Saquon on the Eagles but we already have Miles. I think Saquon would do well on a better team then the Giants, its unfortunate these top draft picks end up on sucky teams that can't\don't improve. I don't see him staying in the NFC East if traded. I think the Chiefs or Bills would be a good spot for him.

And the Saints have Kamara, who is essentially the same player as Barkley but a bit more durable. His post makes no sense.

What are the chances he ends up playing in the same stadium for the Jets?

Agree but it would be such a Jets move.

I think Hackenberg would have been better in the NFL if he didn't end up on the Jets with the first year QB coach they had. Please Saquon, don't end up on the Jets

The Giants are between a rock and a hard place with respect to Barkley's contract. With a fully guaranteed contract part of any trade negotiations would have the Giants picking up a significant portion of his salary. At this point why trade him, it doesn't make sense. If you don't have a team to threaten for a wildcard spot or better, wait until the end of the 2022 season. The Giants need to steal I. Spiller in the 2nd, maybe 3rd round of this years draft.

Huh? They only owe him an affordable $7.2 million with this being the last year of his deal. If they wait until the end of 2022 he's a free agent. If they trade him the other team will have to pay him $7.2 this season unless they choose to sign him long term. What kind of hard place is that?

If someone offers the gmen a 3rd rounder for Barkley, I believe they'd jump on that.

My guess is that Barkley would go to a contender that feels a RB away from winning a title. Pure guess, though.

I could see him in Arizona if Edmonds and/or Connor move on. He’d also look good on an LA team.
