I know that many people are focused on healthy eating today, but how does a McDonald’s go out of business?

Damn. I ate at that McDonald’s when I was a student. 😞
I ate at that McDonald’s Friday night before the ‘95 Michigan game. We came up in an RV and I lost the group I was with as I kept falling with a knee I had just injured the Wednesday before playing hockey, was hammered, and the snow was falling. It was kind of a beautiful scene until I realized I had no idea how to get back to the RV. After standing in a long, long line at CC Peppers, I turned to go to my table and dropped the whole tray. I sat dejectedly at a table with no food, reading the student newspaper about the game in perfect double vision. Took me forever. Eventually I realized I had to leave and was still hungry so I got up and got to that McDonald’s where I remembered I had the phone number of my friend’s girlfriend. They came and picked me up and brought me to their apartment party that went on until the sun came up.
Good times. Glad I don’t do that anymore.

There was nothing more magical than walking up college ave totally alone in the snow stoned at 4am in the middle of the street listening to the traffic signals click to a new color above my head

I had my first Egg McMuffin there. I stopped in while lining up along College Ave to celebrate the 86 National Championship team with their parade. I remember seeing DJ Dozier on the float, and I yelled "HEY DJ, look!" And pointed to one of his jersey's that I was wearing. He got a huge smile and gave me a thumbs up.

I lived in Pollock my two years in the dorms. At least one night a week someone would run down there about midnight and my order was always a quarter pounder w/cheese and a filet-o-fish. No fries or drinks.

I can still picture it clearly in my head. At the time it was happening and still today, it looks like the scene of George Bailey running home down the main street of Bedford Falls.

At one time when I was there, around 97 or 98, I thought they had said that it was the second busiest McDonald’s in the country.
I had heard that the busiest McDonald's was the one in Breezewood, PA, at the turnpike.

I remember the late 90s the SC location sold 5 cheeseburgers and a bag a fries for $5 after 1 or 2 am. Great hangover food.

Misleading headline, so I am told. My wife says they’re just relocating to one of the high rises.

The property was sold to the developers that submitted a proposal for another student high rise about three years ago. Allegedly, the developers will give McD’s the opportunity to rent a space in the new building.

The one and only time I sold plasma at Sara Tech, they had an offer for a free Big Mac. I sold my plasma. Got what I think was $15. Ran to McDonald’s in the rain. Ate the Big Mac. Ran home in the rain. Got a super wicked cold. I blame the free Big Mac.

Yea a high rise is slated there. There are 3 other McDonalds in sc though. Plenty for a small town.
If that McDonald’s does go into a high rise can you imagine the smell permeating throughout the building. Omg. 😳 could be good for sales though as students would have it on the brain.

The other McDs are far outside of downtown. I too have read that it is supposed to go back into the high rise that is being built. I am pretty sure that McDs was pretty busy at times.

I probably didn’t need that cheesesteak anyway. Then again, I probably didn’t need the bottle of Absolut I drank in the RV on the way up or the many, many beers I had the rest of the evening.
Now that I think about it, I got a drinking in public ticket that night. We left from somewhere downtown and I had a 6 pack of JW Dundee’s Honey Brown Lager and was drinking one walking down the sidewalk. Police officer stops me and says he has to give me a ticket for drinking in public. I said, “I’m not even drinking anything!”. The cop just looks at me and says, “You have the open bottle in your hand right now.” I remember cracking up, taking my ticket, and carrying on with my evening.

We'll see, Had one like that near my old workplace near the tOSU campus--they closed a Kroger and the carryout I used to go to to build a highrise--supposedly allowing them a slot in the new place. Neither ended up opening there, and a lot of storefronts are empty.

The highrise currently under construction just down College Ave is supposed to allow Pizza Mia back in. Whether or not Pizza Mia will be able to afford the rent is another question. The developers don’t care if the commercial spaces stay empty because they make enough money on the $tudent rental$.

I ate there like 4 times despite being in town for an extended undergrad stay. I recall the place being a madhouse when the goal posts came thru for the Pitt game (or was it Nebraska?) in 1982 though.
