What are your top three (and two honorable mentions)? Consider the era, location, pre/post concert, etc. I'm going:

The Beatles - Apple Rooftop; London, England; January 30th, 1969

Queen - Wembley Stadium; London, England; July 13, 1985

Nirvana - Rhino Records; Westwood, CA; June 26, 1989

Honorable Mention:

Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Butthold Surfers, Ice-T, Souxie and the Banshees, Henry Rollins, Living Colour - Lollapaloza, Chandler, AZ; July 18, 1991

The Smiths - Barrowland, Sotland; September 25, 1985

Live Aid, JFK Stdium - Philly July 13, 1985
Led Zeppelin, O2 Arena - London, UK December 19,0, 2007

I can't really say Woodstock because I was 4 years old and did not want to miss my nap time.

So....just the first two.

Live aid was awesome but it was over 100 and a very long day. Still a great memory.
Agree with Led Zeppelin that would have been awesome to see.

My wife and I attended Live Aid at JFK for our 1st wedding anniversary. It was an amazing day. We sat on the field about the 40 yard line. The greatest music event we have attended. Our tickets cost $35 each! It was a hot day. The Philly fire department came into the stadium with hoses around 5pm and sprayed the crowd to cool everyone off. We are still married looking toward our 38th anniversary. We still love seeing live music. In the last several months we have seen Genesis in Columbus, OH in Dec, Genesis again in the next to last show ever? in London at O2 arena in March and the Eagles in Columbus last month.

Couple of show I would have like to have seen:

Pink Floyd anywhere (have seen Roger Waters do his Wall show)
Queen anywhere
The original Lynyrd Skynyrd
Looking forward to see Bruce again(lost count on how many times) in the US and in Europe next year

Zeppelin. Sometime between '73 and '78. Catalog was there to hear all the greats.

Sabbath. '70-'71. So hard, so heavy. Before anybody else was. Before the coke weakened their live shows as well.

Guns n Roses. '88, Live at the Ritz. Raw and powerful. Just before they took over the world.

Interesting to consider catalog/popularity - which is why I’d rather see Nirvana in their infancy and someone like Queen at peak power.

Nirvana Unplugged wouldn't be a bad choice, but Nirvana early and dirty would be fun with 300 people or less for sure.

Always gotta consider the variables.

I'll even throw out '92-'93 Alice in Chains. Layne's vocal peak.

I was 14 and friends went but I couldn’t get there!!
I went with 3 of my friends. Drove up Saturday from near Valley Forge. I8o was completed shut down, near the concert, People, including us, just parked their cars on I80. Walked in from there. It rained so hard they stopped the concert. We were all completely soaked. After a number of hours, with no music, wet and cold, the masses started to leave. We walked almost all the way back to our car, about 5 miles, Then the concert started up again. We could hear the music in the distance. Stupidly we turned around and walked back to the concert. We didn't get to see much of that concert and none of the better bands. I remember trading a banana for a bottle of wine. That's my most outstanding memory. Those were the days.

Black Sabbath and Humble Pie circa 1971... that would be amazing. Gods of Thunder.
Sabbath and Badfinger cancelled out. Rained like a mother, traffic jam all the way to the Delaware Water Gap. Concert was delayed by rain and ELP played at 4 am!!

Mine would be The Monterey Pop Fesival
and if I have to pick a single event then probably something from the CBGB and Talkling Heads.

I would definitely choose Live Aid… the only question would be: attend in London or Philly? Unless Phil Collins would have let me tag along on the Concord.

The concert I wish I had NOT been at was the third Tibetan Freedom concert — June 1998 in RFK. Mid-afternoon, as Herbie Hancock was playing, lightning stuck several people. I about crapped myself, and the rest of the day’s show was canceled — due to the lightning, not the near-crapping.

Bob Dylan. 1981. I think it was rec hall

I thought he would still be in to his Jesus music so I opted not to go. Turns out he played his older stuff and very little if any of his Jesus

bummer for me

I didn't make that. My brother went Saturday night to the Monterey Pop. He said Otis Redding stole the show.

Thats awesome? Where are the fair grounds? I was through Monterey in April and wanted to look for them but man traffic was horrible so I just wanted to get back to Watsonville but I liked what I saw of Monterey and Carmel by the Sea and Big Sur were gorgeous. I thought Santa Cruz was a little skeezy but maybe that was just the area I drove through on the way to Half Moon Bay.
