Given that most of the stadia are property of the schools.....
stadia are only good for 20-30 years... how many are brand new?
Even then, lease the venue and change the mascot.

The mascot only exist because of the sports. If the sports are not interested in it the value will diminish. Why pay to license the brand?

If the quality of play does not diminish, and the football team was called "Columbus Nut-house" would they still have a significant following? I think so. Same with most of the other big time (IMO there are only +/-20 of these) programs.

I predict we do it too. Seems like this is a return to a sort of normal; the sports don’t make money - put the kids on scholarship and quit flying them all over the country. Quit paying coaches hundreds of thousands of dollars. Football is special and should be - if PSU had a Clemson athletics model we’d have more money than OSU for football.
Unfortunately you’re correct. Southern schools have supported 20 varsity sports for awhile now. Ohio State gets it. PSU doesn’t. Krafty needs to earn his keep now. It’s FTB, BB, Hockey, Wrestling, Soccer, LAX, VB, Gymnastics, FH, BaseB, Softball, Fencing, and Golf. 20 teams. Do it!

Women's basketball isn't going anywhere. The sports you propose eliminating don't save squadoosh.
