PSU led the B1G in scoring last year and I think he threw 2 INT's to 25 or so TD's while completing just under 60% in his first year starting. Now I know some fans can only talk about or remember the losses, but for a first year starter he did pretty well. Does he still have some holes in his game where he needs to make progress this year...absolutely. Take some more chances up top, stop rushing throws...take that last 1/4 of a second to allow the WR to get open knowing you're going to get hit. Maybe take off a bit more if you see it or handle the pressure a bit better but overall he was very solid this year. As fans all we can do is hope he does progress more this year and if that occurs good things should follow.

Agree. I don't get the whole "Allar is a bad QB" schtick. He was a first-year starter, with 25TD-2INT 59.9% and was rated 4th in the B1G overall. With a well documented ZERO WR help, and an offense that didn't allow him to open things up (6.8 yds per attempt) that ended up firing the OC (which everyone was super happy about). THAT is a hard one for me to square: everyone was happy the OC was fired, but still thinks the O issues were because of a bad QB? How can one look at those stats and a fired OC and think the QB was bad?

It's just the hot take era we live in where basically dumb and ignorant folks trip over themselves to be the first one to be critical behind a keyboard or phone. I think it goes without saying just about every college QB has room to grow, but you cannot look at those stats and say....well he really sucked this year.

I disagree. it's not a hot take. it's stupidity. These are the same clowns that think just because (pick your female star) is straight that they have a CHANCE with her because "well, she's a woman, i'm a man, so there's a chance right?" it's TERRIBLE expectation management. People saw the stars in Allar's ranking and expected a top-5 national QB in his first year starting. i'm telling you.... stupidity.

this is the wrong morning for me to be in this kind of thread......

Not necessarily an agenda. Clicks mean money. You got to follow up on every single thing.
Then you die and go to a special place called media hell where you meet your host (Morton Downey Jr. yells headlines at you all day).

Execution is the key to success. A coordinator who wants every series to look different will likely succeed. Fumble, penalties, interception, four and out.

I hope they have allar work with the track team. Slowest 19 year old I have seen.
Shaffer would have torched him in the 40 and that is amazing for me to say.

You guys see the interview with Franklin recently when he was asked about the OC change? He said something to the effect that he felt the last OC ran too many 3 WR/1TE sets when the strength of the team was TEs and should have ran more 2 TE sets.

Yet somehow when he ran it was effective. My biggest OC complaint was that they didn’t run him more.
Yea he scared the heck out of defenses with his threat into run 🤣

The defense never expected him to run, so when he did, it was effective. And he’s a big guy so he should be falling forward. He reminded me of Big Ben when he ran. Not graceful, but effective. He was hesitant to take off until later in the season.

Now we are comparing him to a nfl hall of famer? Cmon man. Ben running around the pocket to extend plays is what made Ben so successful. Then he would run and was effective as well. Allar doesn’t display any of those qualities. Don’t think he will have that speed. But maybe he can learn to move around to let receivers get open. Looking back at the peach bowl tape allar had at times 4-5 seconds to throw and didn’t run and also threw some balls that he shouldn’t have when the oline gave him time. The long interception was a great example. The receiver was blanketed as we clearly could see from the stands and he stood there like a statue and we could see him looking deep and our section was yelling run and when he was setting his feet to throw people yelled noooo.

the new oc will have to see allar’s mobiltiy and adjust and franklin said it best to have two tight ends to help with time and perhaps one of tight ends can catch the ball as well keeping defenses off balance, with the run and pass.

Huhhh, Ben was a statue, but was strong enough to shed people. No doubt Drew isn't a burner, but he did move the chains a few times last year with his feet.

Now you are putting words in my mouth and changing the context of what I said.

I'm shocked, absolutely shocked that Giger would do this! Without him would this thread even exist? ... although it does provide interesting reading.

Giger wasn't the only one (and not even the person I copied here), but he's been the most vocal about it.

The only thing you can say at this point is that the jury is still out on Allar. This season will tell.
100 percent correct. Here is hoping he rocks!!!! And realizes his potential!!
