I like the road naming idea better. The stadium includes the field. And the goal posts. And the urinal troughs. And everything else.

I just hope when we finally remodel we get a Peetz Pavilion somewhere.

@BW Lion You'd relish that day. You once paid homage to her with your handle. Still. We never really got the inside scoop on the cabana escapades.

Joe Paterno Stadium. What are they going to do ?

Still getting bad calls , Joe's been scrubbed from videos, no mention of his accomplishments.

Deal with it .
I know what you mean (as does anyone who's watched the 60-minute edit of a game from the Paterno era that was produced within the last 12 years), but it seems worth noting that Joe has worked his way back into Beaver Stadium videos.

And even more recently there was also this.

Sadly most of America likely still thinks JoePa is evil. We shouldn’t care what they think. That being said, expect a social media shitstorm if and when they do this.

But it's a bit of a viscous circle as a big reason that people think Paterno did something wrong is because PSU hasn't honored him in any way (and removed the statue). If PSU is not willing to recognize the great Joe Paterno then he "must" have done something wrong.

If PSU were bold enough to actually honor him appropriately and justify it via a media blitz about the false rush to judgement, the sentiment would definitely shift. Run of the mill people would start to say "oh, they wouldn't actually name the stadium after him if he actual enabled pedophilia, would they?" or such. There would still be haters of course, but some people would actually be persuaded.

I don't care about other people.

I don't care about other people.

I don't either really. I'm just saying that a big part of the reason Paterno continues to be vilified is because PSU won't honor him. And that feeds into the narrative when PSU should actually be controlling the narrative.

Compare to say Bo Schembechler where Michigan has no problems celebrating him even given his actual wrong in covering up/ignoring abuse.

Better late than never, but truly honoring Joe in a meaningful way must be done.
Bottom line is that Joe's character and integrity have endured........and those of us who won't abandon him to the slimy filth that sacrificed him to save themselves haven't died off fast enough. What was it Karen with the flies on her said....it'd all be forgotten by 2016?

Joe loved the classics so how about a new Joe statue that is on par with the Colossus of Rhodes. Have it straddle the stadium

Straddling Old Main and pissing on it.

Today's resolution, predictably, FAILED.

I wonder if Jay's next move is to get bags of money from the Saudi Arabian government, and try to bribe his fellow board members.

These f*cking people can’t talk to each other and ALIGN. o_O ? For f*ck’s sake. Amateurs.
I'd really like to hear Barry's take on this -

"After the motion was tabled, Short, an All-American linebacker who played for Joe Paterno from 1996-99, gave an impassioned speech about the prior 20 minutes of discussion, saying there were several members of the Board of Trustees who use Joe Paterno’s name to gain power and influence."

Who's simpatico here and who isn't?

It has been an exhausting couple of weeks, but I'll get write up done over the weekend and post next week.

Deadspin picked it up. Its mostly a ‘fact’ based article with little editorial save use of the word ‘disgraced’…

I'd be surprised if anything happened along the lines being discussed and I don't believe there is as much money locked up as people seem to think there is.
So you don't believe the impetus for these discussions is to raise money and is purely to honor Joe?

No, I'm sure that much of the motivation was to raise money. Just think that some are overestimating how much is there.
I hope they are overestimating. It's disgusting that their motivation would be to raise money by exploiting Joe one more time.

On a related note, notice they have not issued any resolutions to remove Joe's name from the library?
