What did Brett do on a kickoff?I don't know what the rule is on that, but like Fat Bielima's kickoff crap when he was at Wisconsin, just because something is legal doesn't mean you should do it.
Bush league crap like that doesn't make you look smart it makes you look desperate and petty.
I'd be curious to know what happened here as well. Unsportslike contuct?I don't know what the rule is on that, but like Fat Bielima's kickoff crap when he was at Wisconsin, just because something is legal doesn't mean you should do it.

What did Brett do on a kickoff?
I could see a "holding" call if they really wanted toI'd be curious to know what happened here as well. Unsportslike contuct?
Joe certainly would never have done it, but i would have picked some 3rd string LB, put him in the front line of the receiving unit....and had him absolutely level the kicker.Badgers find new rule loophole
While many will likely best remember Joe Paterno's second half misfortunes against Wisconsin Saturday, the end of the first half got the Penn State's head coach as riled up aswww.psucollegian.com
They couldn’t even push him into the ball. They should have gone behind him and just shoved him.

Short version....What did Brett do on a kickoff?
Have they since changed the rule? I've never seen tht tactic used again.Short version....
They changed the rule so the clock started when the ball was kicked.
Fat **** starts the coverage unit downfield before the ball is kicked. Coverage team has a 15 yard head start, so our returner gets crushed at the five.
We take the penalty because we really have no choice...BUT 9 seconds has run off the clock.
They rekick and do the same thing like 4 times, running out the remaining 50ish seconds in the half not allowing our offense back on the field.
Yeah...now its back to clock starts when the return man fields itHave they since changed the rule? I've never seen tht tactic used again.
Well, that explains why Iowa tried it.I don't know what the rule is on that, but like Fat Bielima's kickoff crap when he was at Wisconsin, just because something is legal doesn't mean you should do it.

I think the fact that the ball is live after it goes 10 yards already forces them to do that.I believe the rule prevents the kicking team from forcing the receiving team to touch the ball.
That is true on a free kick or punt. Don't think it is true for a kickoff....anyone want to find the rule on that?Pretty the ball is whistled dead when it stops moving and no one has made contact.
The play in the USC game was a punt, not a kickoff.I think the fact that the ball is live after it goes 10 yards already forces them to do that.
Unless it goes out of bounds or into the end zone, a kickoff is live and the receiving team has no choice but to touch it.
But we were discussing the kickoff shenanigans that Bielema pulled at Wisky....The play in the USC game was a punt, not a kickoff.
23 seconds, and they did it twice….NCAA fixed the rule after the season.Short version....

Asshat Craig James proceeded to call JoePa an old fart
PSU fans didn't like it, but it was actually very smart. At the time the game clock rules meant the clock started immediately when the ball was kicked. Bielema had his team intentionally run offsides on the kickoff twice in a row in order to run a few seconds off the clock each time and run out the game clock. I think it was going into the half of a game where Wisconsin had a slim lead. Unsurprisingly that clock rule was changed immediately after that season. What did Brett do on a kickoff?
