I was a member of FGF for years... then did a few years of paid subs for TIF. Now, back to FGF it seems like it's a dead forum. Did everyone leave? Is everyone apathetic now? Or is it intentionally being squished for the paid forums?

I enjoy both there are just some times when it's not worth it to pay for a forum. This seems like one of those years....

Mens sports have been awful for a while now, and I just can't become interested in ladies sports.
I believe if men's sports become relevant again the boards will become active again.

That would certainly help.

There is a certain damper on enthusiasm as this year has progressed.

Yeah.

Th split killed traffic on both sites. And I think the deals to get people onto the pay side of this forum diminished the population a little too.

Yeah, I don't know why. Some folks said up front they wouldn't bother making the move. Not sure why? It's not like it actually required any effort on the part of us as posters. It was only a new web address to type in. But some of them made it seem like the ultimate inconvenience.

Yes, it does seem a very small thing to be stubborn about.

Some even came over but then went back. Although I'm not complaining about a couple instances of that.

I dont like to say things which might be insulting to those that run the site, BUT, I paid for inside info on one site for a while. In the end, it wasn't anything that wasn't opinion, innuendo, or info that became public in a matter of hours/days.

I just found it want worth it. Others feel differently, I'm sure.

I likewise tried the insider forum for a brief period and didn't find much worthwhile. With Twitter and other social media and 24/7 news coverage, there's very little inside info these days. Almost none. What bit there may be rapidly becomes publicly known info. Usually within minutes on Twitter. As you say, the only "inside" info is usually speculative in nature. There's not a single poster here who has "inside" info.

I suppose the value is in the content you get.

There are posters on the Insiders that make me feel like I'm at the children's table.

Isn't there a site that closed for a few years and now has reopened? If so, that may be holding back traffic.

I enjoy TIF but also read the free threads too. There's a lot more conversation on here now than there was a few months ago at least.

Mrs Satterfield is still there, and some lunatic with the handle "Southern Fried Chicken" who joined last year has started about half the active threads. No one has a clue what he's talking about most of the time.

Southern Fried is strange, but for some reason I find him funny.

This forum was the forum for many years. After a while people were getting banned for some reason. I think those people left looking for something and the BigSpur was available

I was banned years ago from The State sports forum for calling the moderators "The Maud Squad ".
Haven't missed them at all.

When we moved over to On3, we onboard a lot of folks who were formerly on FGF and brought them to The Insiders Forum.

There may indeed be other factors, but that was certainly a big one.

This is going to be a very interesting offseason, so I think it's a great time to be a part of our premium/members-only service.

I know if I were in the position of being a fan and not doing this as my job, I would! Haha.

Let me know if you have any questions!

It is definitely correct that the volume of posts on FGF, if we're talking just about FGF, is down from where they were on our previous platform.

I can't speak for anyone else, but our traffic is still very high sitewide and has not fallen off at all.

Only certain content is allowed. They keep deleting threads.

Hey - let me know if you're seeing any moderation problems - you can PM me or email me at [email protected].

I checked over and saw a bunch of political posts that were zapped, but we don't allow those as a general rule.

I think/hope you will miss us on TIF! Haha!

Come on back whenever you're ready! Appreciate you staying on here, too.

Haha, for sure! We are glad to do it.

Hey, we do have a deal for $1 for the first month...not too bad.

Our subscription revenue also allows us to be in position to actually cover everything so that we can have content and forums, whether free or premium.

I think moving from rivals was a mistake. The fanbase isn't big enough to support 3 -4 different sites. It's too diluted now.

We've been happy with our situation at On3 and think it's going to help us continue to grow and offer even more to Gamecock fans, whether it's free readers or our premium membership.

Certainly not saying anything negative about anyone, but we brought everyone with us to our new platform.

Yep, the guys running the site are great! Don't want to take a dime from them. But most of the paid forum convos got so frustrating.
I've got buddies that follow other teams (UGA) and they're on several free forums that have legitimate insiders and tons of solid team discussions!

Maybe everyone is finally hitting that threshold where we burned through the promo pricing then realized we were didn't want to pay the full price anymore. Hopefully over the next few moths FGF will get more active.
