I half expected this game to be cancelled after we clinched Sunday and South Carolina clinched a bye in the tournament. Only thing left to play for is #3 vs #4 seed for South Carolina. Which isn't much (just difference between playing #2 MSU or #5 Arkansas in the semifinals next Thursday).I don’t like this game for all the reasons that have already been mentioned

Yeah, now that we clinched the conference a game early, I wish we didn’t play again until the SEC Tournament. That said, South Carolina is ranked 18 in the NCAA RPI, so it’s a good opportunity for us to help solidify our hold on a top four seed.I don’t like this game for all the reasons that have already been mentioned
I know nothing about soccer but Armstrong can teach a masterclass about second half adjustmentsStat of the game last night:
1st half shots - USC - 7, MSU - 4
2nd half shots - MSU - 6, USC - 0.
Stunning is almost an understatement. I checked the SEC soccer record book the other day. SEC record for fewest goals allowed is 8. That goal is well within reach for this team. Looking at SEC stats, 2nd lowest goals allowed this year is Vandy with 10.I looked over the results and stats for the team last night (first time for everything I guess).
It is stunning for a team to play 17 games and have 14 shutouts against a quality schedule. 4 total goals allowed on the season.
What an accomplishment by the players and coaches.
Our first game will be the winner of Kentucky and Tennessee. The only way we play Bama (and their sнitty RPI) is if they upset Vandy and South Carolina. Auburn isn’t on our side of the bracket, so we can only get them in the final (more likely we get Texas or Arkansas). Our semifinal opponent can only be SC, Vandy, or Bama.We probably have at least tw, maybe three SEC Tournament games. We have a bye and play the winner of UT and Alabama and then likely get South Carolina or Auburn in the semifinal and Texas or Arkansas in the final.
We will likely draw the SWAC Champion in the first round of the NCAAs, then a winnable second round match. The Sweet 16 round gets pretty serious but we will be at home.
If we want a shot at the record, we have to pitch a bunch of shutouts. Just to get to the Round of 16 means we will play 4-5 quality opponents.
My apologies. I couldnt find a bracket so I just looked at standings and there is a log jam in the 8-12 and they had them listed out of order. Our first game will be the winner of Kentucky and Tennessee. Yeah, the SEC's standings page is a mess and they don't seem to put in the tie-breakers.My apologies. I couldnt find a bracket so I just looked at standings and there is a log jam in the 8-12 and they had them listed out of order.
Same on Auburn and Vanderbilt. We have a decent path to the championship game.
