True but you PRACTICE running the floor. You PRACTICE a plan to break a press. All we do is dribble. Dribble. Dribble. I’m pulling for the guy and I like him but these are coaching issues. Like the offense….No plan.
Beamer didn't look like he had an offensive plan for the first 1.5 years. Getting the right players / coaches in place and having them buy into the process goes a long way to success.

The pass on Marshall befuddles me. The man is an NCAAT machine. Yeah, he has baggage, but we aren't a significant enough program that the media would have cared that much about it. I'm fine with the decision to part ways with Martin. After 11 seasons, the relationship had run it's course. But you gotta know which direction you're going after you pull the trigger on the dismissal. It appears that we let Martin go without having a short list of possible replacements.
Other places hire people with baggage and once they win everything is forgotten except the championships...see Bruce Pearl, Rick Pitino, Bobby knight etc.

It appears that Tanner dismissed Martin without any clue what the next steps were.
Does this surprise you?
Other than the GG crap, what I see is:

1. Don’t know how to run the court on breakouts.
2. Have no plan to break a press.
3. Have no set inbounds plays.
4. No great call set play after a timeout.
5. Zero improvement on blocking out and rebounding.

These are coaching issues. This is what worries me.

No administration should be able to screw up this bad. We had Gregg Marshall and BJ available and we hired Paris instead. We don't want to win.
This.

(screaming from the highest point in South Carolina) THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hear, hear! 2022-23 MBB was shaping up to be a darn good team...right up until the coach was run off and 5-6 of his best players vaporized.
Outside of one year, it was always "next year" with Martin. Yea, 2022-23 would have been a darn good year. Right!

It was kind of comical, actually. It was a broken record. Every season, certain fans had an excuse as to why the current team was underperforming but assured us all that things were shaping up for next year. Then when next year's squad underperformed, they had an excuse as to why that was happening but assured us that NEXT year was the year. No, for real this team. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Come to think of it, it actually would have pretty humorous to see GG play for Frank. GG has been petulant at times and that was NOT Frank's bag. It would have been interesting to see how GG's fragile emotional state meshed with Frank's tough love approach.

Running the floor is practice and repetition. Nothing more. I teach 12 year olds to do that. This is my point. We aren’t doing this.

You can teach 12 year olds to block the person in front of you also. Yet, we couldn't do it for Beamer's first 1.5 years.

He has had some missteps, for sure. But, honestly, if the Beamer works out, nothing else matters.
I agree that is all 99% of the fan base cares about. I am the 1% that cares about sports. Love what tanner has done for sports such as men's tennis. We are more than competitive. Great coach and we have very nice, new facilities.

MBB has some soul searching to do. It’s looking like Tanner dropped the ball on another major hire
Give the man time for cryin out loud - he will be fine when he has an opportunity to recruit for more than 15 min. Go back a few years and look at Wisconsin around 2014-15 or so in the NCAA's - Paris recruited that team so I think we will be ok in time.

Looks really interested doesn't he. All about him always has been always will be until someone sets him straight or he tries to grow up and stop acting like a spoiled brat that has to be the center of attention all the time regardless of the fact of when you look at his stats from last night...another epic fail.

Read the following with regards to comments made by Coach concerning Jackson.

What’s worse? Missing on GG and letting another one out of state? Or landing him and “doing nothing with him”?
Is it us doing nothing with him? Or maybe it’s him not doing what he should. But as it goes nowadays, no one is accountable for themselves and it’s always someone else’s fault.

No. It shouldn't. Ray Tanner the AD has been a disaster only VERY SLIGHTLY above King Dixon.
I'd argue Eric Hyman as the worst. He ran off 40% of the fan base in a revenue neutral move. Constantly interfered with Spurrier with Garcia. Was responsible for the warchest, Darrin Horn and FM (instead of Marshall x2). He wrecked the baseball stadium causing it to be completed 2 years late at nearly 250% of the original price.

His vast screw ups were somewhat covered up by the success of Steve Spurrier and Ray Tanner coaching the 2 sports we care about. A&M fired him after a year.

I agree with you about the constant excuses but he did go 18-13 and 9-9 in the SEC last year. When do you see Paris improving on that record? Was it worth 20 million to make him go away?

I think the relationship had just run its course. In 2019-2020 he went 18-13 (10-8). Two years later he had basically the same record. He wasn't doing a bad job. We just had to decide if we were ok with pretty much always being ok. So we made the right call. Was it a gamble to get rid of a coach who was always going to do alright? Yeah. But it was necessary to try taking a step forward.

Now, I think we made some missteps after dismissing him.

You make excellent points. Eric Hymen was the devil. Loathed him.
