Incredible on both ends of that one! Reminds me of myself in that I also have soccer cleats...
She took a bow. She knew she'd done something pretty special. Got SportsCenter #1 play of the day last night.
Shot was pretty great too. To take that long ball out of the air with that kind of precision isn't easy.
That volley from that angle, though, is very hard to pull off!
Looks like it was a set play coming off the opening kickoff of the 2nd OT. They knew Aitana could beat the right back and Hannah just sent it where she knew she would be.
The behind the goal view is my favorite angle of this play, but they cut away from it too soon. When the camera pans back to the field, you can see Hannah's celebration from where she passed the ball.

I hope y'all realize how incredibly athletic that was for Montoya. Yes, great pass by HJ, but to read that pass coming in with the height and speed it was traveling, adjust her run to it and time it to kick accurately ON THE FLY? That kind of "foot-eye" coordination is INSANE!

Got hurt late in 1st half vs KY. Was hoping we might get her back for 2nd weekend of NCAA tournament. But looks like she out for the year. Big blow for us. We’ve got good depth though, but just can’t match her talent & experience.

I had to watch it 3 times from the goal cam just to see which foot she used on the redirect. Most impressive (and underrated) part of the execution was how she just tapped but didn’t follow through with the left foot. If she followed through with a full strike, she would have sent it into orbit. Takes a ton of concentration and discipline to put that kind of touch on an incoming pass like that.

What’s amazing is that youth and highschool soccer has continued to grow in MS, slowly, however, there’s a lot of people in the sip that appreciate and played soccer and it’s starting to rear its head. This team is special in so many ways but it starts with the hard work coach has instilled.
