Well placed sources say things were/are lined up to have Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium but the chair of the BOT is afraid of such a move hurting him in his executive job at Hilton
Doubt. Waking up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet would be less surprising than this getting approved.

Pegula seems to have gone MIA since making the hockey donation. Maybe he hates us now.
PSU and Barber had a serious fumble at the one-yard line back in 2021 at homecoming, I believe. They also bungled the Frozen Four when they failed to alert Mrs. Pegula that they were hosting the tournament. I heard, from a trusted source, that the on-air announcer told her as she was headed to HV...

Mary Kay Paterno Hort, Joe’s daughter, was recently promoted to a fund raising (alumni relations) position in Old Main from a lesser position in the College of Liberal Arts. Take it for what you will. BTW, she’s a lovely woman - takes after her mother.

Yes, Barber ruined that relationship.

Sorry, however I doubt the second part. MHCKY and WHCKY season tix holders knew about Wonen’s Frozen Four in Pegula over a year out, but Mrs. Pegula had no knowledge?

If it ain't, it won't be because Schuyler ifs worried about his prospects at Hilton.:ROFLMAO:
With the value of naming rights, I think it’s more likely we see Hilton Stadium than Paterno Field in the future. The income from corporate advertising outweighs small donor contributions from fans. Sheetz Stadium or Yeungling Field, or Hershey Field perhaps? What would they pay per year for that?

The Gillette Stadium naming rights cost P&G $8 million a year over a 15-year contract. That is not a very rich deal, according to SB Nation. Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) paid $400 million over 20 years to name the stadium in which the New York Mets play.

They could still find a way to attach the Paterno name to something at the stadium to go after those donors. I’ve always favored making the address of the stadium 409 Paterno Way.

I don’t think there was a lot of communication with the Pegulas regarding hockey, period. Any email alerts were probably not read.. that’s what I was told by someone very close to the program and the Pegula’s. In hindsight they should have been very involved in the festivities. The overall event was poorly handled and promoted by PSU to begin with. That won’t happen when it returns…

You're way off the mark. Fees for naming rights of college stadiums are well below those for pro venues. The highest one is $4.3mm p.a. that United Airlines pays USC for naming rights to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Running second is the Alaska Air deal with UDub at $4.1mm for Husky Stadium. After that there is a yawning gap. Of more recent vintage is the $1.75mm deal between Hyundai and Georgia Tech.

That was true in the past but with the increase in TV exposure resulting from the B10 expansion the value of advertising will increase insubstantially. There will be more marquis games broadcast from “Hershey Stadium” on network TV than ever before and the value of that exposure will increase as well. There’s lots of beer (or chocolates) to sell. That’s why these B10 TV contracts are so big.

Of course, PSU can do better than that.

Why don't you compare NFL TV ratings to those of the Big Ten instead of pulling shilt out of your a$$. There is a reason that the value of NFL TV contracts is over 12bn a year.

This is something that perplexes me, I see references made to "big money donors," yet I don't see them in the flesh/cash. Yes, Pegula contributed over $100mm for the ice hockey arena and to fund the programs, but that seems to be the extent of his largess. Over the years, the public record shows a handful (5-6) of donors in the $5mm range and the financials don't contradict that. So in the immortal words of the late Clara Peller, "where's the beef?"
You need to go back about 40 years to find the big donors.....back when Joe and Graham would visit with their"friends" Those days are gone and unfortunately most current and recent grads and students have little to no knowledge. One such visit was Joe and Grahaam visiting to ask for a donation for a capital project.....Graham told Joe he was hoping to get one million...when the donor asked how much Joe said three million...after some discussion... Joe got the three million. That is just one story documented in Graham Spanier's book "In the Lion's Den - A Rush to Judgement"....great book/read which includes older PSU history. There are many reasons for a lack of large dollar donations...some i am sure you can guess.

Me thinks he's still trying to digest how his contribution to the construction of the Bills new stadium went from $200mm to $500mm before ground was broken.

Never got the sense that Pegula was the savior of PSU athletics. When people talk about the sources of philanthropy for ICA it's in the plural. Names? Amounts?
I always heard that Pegula was interested in psu hockey and really not much else (financially) wrt psu athletics.

As I heard it, back when his donation was about to signed and sealed, the Penn Stater Alumni magazine came out with an article highly critical of franking. There was a lot of scrambling by ICA and others to undo the damage and get the 1st huge traunch of money delivered.

Many years ago now, but that story comes to mind. Maybe Barry or Art can clear up any misremembering?

I do believe that franking privileges are reserved for members of congress.
