What say you "half-cocked" Rod?

We’ve got the next John Thompson patrolling our sideline.Playing well the last couple of weeks.

No doubt. Plus coach had the courage to sit the young 'un. Glad that worked out for him.It looked bad for awhile in the first half. It's encouraging that the team hasn't quit. Otherwise, no way the Gamecocks win today.
He might as well get used to being without him.No doubt. Plus coach had the courage to sit the young 'un. Glad that worked out for him.
Glad for the win! The only thing I've seen this season from MBB is the end of the exhibition with Mars Hill, news highlights, and the first half of today's game. I can't wait to catch the second half replay. In what I saw today, there was no "team"work, awful three point shots, missed shots around the basket and way too much standing around. I think my high-school team would have run circles around this one. Is this how it's been all season? It looked bad for awhile in the first half. It's encouraging that the team hasn't quit. Get lost. Go hang with Rod.Glad for the win! The only thing I've seen this season from MBB is the end of the exhibition with Mars Hill, news highlights, and the first half of today's game. I'm glad I didn't say "great".Well, any win is a good win, but I’m not sure eking out a 3 point win over another garbage team qualifies as “great”
I think this quitting thing is overrated, particularly in basketball. It's a rough sport but come on. I never quit a game of pickup at the YMCA or in the hood and no one was watching. Heck, it's basketball. Why would anyone quit when you are an 18 to 22 yo? You play, have fun, kick butt.It looked bad for awhile in the first half. It's encouraging that the team hasn't quit. Otherwise, no way the Gamecocks win today.
Just look at the source.Well, any win is a good win, but I’m not sure eking out a 3 point win over another garbage team qualifies as “great”
Ask them, not me. They do it. I've seen head-hanging and shoulder-slumping by young people at many sporting events when things weren't going well.I think this quitting thing is overrated, particularly in basketball. Most millennials are front runners. Don’t have that inner drive to dig in & fight harder when the going gets tough. It’s easier just to lay down & take it.Ask them, not me. They do it. Says every generation about the ones that follow. Seriously. Articles written in newspapers a hundred years ago about that. Most millennials I know work hard. Most millennials are front runners. You're right but maybe it falls in the category of demoralized. Just semantics.Ask them, not me. They do it. I've seen head-hanging and shoulder-slumping by young people at many sporting events when things weren't going well.
It's more intrinsicly evident now than in days gone by. .You're right but maybe it falls in the category of demoralized. Just semantics.

That’s why we needed a big time coach. I don’t think any kind of coach can succeed here. I will be stunned if LP can get the job done. He might be a pretty decent coach, but I don’t think that’s enough here.Paris has matched Staley's first season conference wins. One more win and he will match her overall wins in her first season here. Give the man a chance. He inherited a dumpster fire here. Martin did not leave here voluntarily.
Good luck finding a big-time coach that is willing to come here. That’s why we needed a big time coach. I don’t think any kind of coach can succeed here. I will be stunned if LP can get the job done. He might be a pretty decent coach, but I don’t think that’s enough here.
Here’s a whole bunch of them, King. Dating back to Aristotle.Says every generation about the ones that follow. Seriously. Articles written in newspapers a hundred years ago about that. Most millennials I know work hard.
Sorry King, linked to my own post instead. It’s one of the many problems we get at our ageShow me one of those articles from a hundred years ago. A screenshot will do.
Then why fire Frank? To just take a flyer and hope it works out? The goal should’ve been to get better. Frank had us squarely in the middle of the pack in the SEC.Good luck finding a big-time coach that is willing to come here.
We can find a middle of the pack coach in which the fans can get behind. Fans stopped coming to see an underperforming team with a coach that was out of control on the sidelines. Then why fire Frank? You'll never get people like this to admit their inconsistencies and wrongs, but I applaud your efforts. Here’s a whole bunch of them, King. Dating back to Aristotle.

People have always whinged about young adults. Here's proof
Older people love to gripe about the entitled, lazy millennial generation. But it's nothing new – by delving into the archives, we found plenty of parallels stretching back 2,000 yearswww.bbc.com
There's more truth to that than some people realize. 2 of the last 3 coaches that came here, were being pushed out by their Power 5 school. And Sean Miller turned us down to go back to Xavier. I believe it's safe to say that we could have outbid Xavier for Miller if we wanted to. We have a Head Coach now who improved his program every year at his previous school. And prior to getting that Head Coaching gig, he was an assistant to Bo Ryan at Wisconsin, going to the Sweet 16 twice and the Final Four 2 other times, including finishing 2nd in the nation. Like I said, he improved UT Chattanooga every year he was there as Head Coach, In his 5th year there, they won their conference (Southern) and barely lost to Illinois in the NCAA Tourney by one point. And Illinois was the Big 10 regular season champions last year. So, he has been both, a successful Head Coach AND been a long-time assistant to one of the nation's most successful Head Coaches ever (Ryan also won a couple of national championships at a lower level). I believe Paris will get the job done here. I am willing to be patient and give the man a chance. But, that's me.Good luck finding a big-time coach that is willing to come here.

I don't understand why some people want to put the guy in front of a firing squad, before he has been given a fair chance, especially someone with his experience and past success. It seems like some people have been on his case from the get-go. It's perplexing. He is going to be given a fair chance by the Administration whether some people like it or not.You and I are in agreement.
Knee jerk. Most wanted Martin gone (including me) but they are expecting instant success from a new coach. Most of these guys don't understand sports or the process.I don't understand why some people want to put the guy in front of a firing squad, before he has been given a fair chance, especially someone with his experience and past success. Then the audacity to ask how it’s been. Watch the games jerk.Get lost. Go hang with Rod.
I agree. Watch the game. Then the audacity to ask how it’s been. Watch the games jerk.
A middle of the pack coach isn’t going to win enough against elite coaches. SEC programs have really upped the hiring game. Great coaches all over the league with more money than ever before. We aren’t making competitive decisions off the court. At least it doesn’t appear so.We can find a middle of the pack coach in which the fans can get behind. Fans stopped coming to see an underperforming team with a coach that was out of control on the sidelines.
Look at Beamer. He was well below a middle of the pack hire. In fact, no other team was hiring him as a head coach anytime soon. Maybe Tanner got lucky but that's what it's going to take in basketball. I like Paris and am hopeful it works out but I'll be the first to admit the jury is still out. I will continue to pull for him and attend games and support the team.A middle of the pack coach isn’t going to win enough against elite coaches. SEC programs have really upped the hiring game.
