Liberty is 4-0 in year 2 under the guy we (Tanmer) turned down. Hes now 17-1 at Liberty w the loss being the Oregon Fiesta Bowl game. That decision by Tanner will haunt us for so long once Chadwell eventually goes to Va Tech or Auburn and becomes a top 10 program

I'll listen when he beats anyone with a pulse at the FBS level while at Liberty.
Yeah thats why the elitists at USC wouldnt consider hiring him and Tanner went w a coach who was never a coordinator much less a head coach.

Meanwhile
Chadwell won big at D2 NGU w D2 talent
He won big at FCS CSU w FCS talent
He won big at G5 Coastal and Liberty w G5 talent

Almost like he takes rosters w talent thats on par w their level and wins.

How is Tanners decision working out for us? Because Liberty is sending him a thank you card

You have hit the bullseye on why Chadwell would have been a smart hire. He has won big at 4 different schools. One time could be luck. Two times could be a coincidence. Four times is a trend.

We missed the boat on Chadwell. Instead, we went with a cheerleader. To paraphrase Don King: "Only at South Carolina." SMH

My second cousin's ex-boyfriend saw Ray Tanner at Halls Chophouse with Jamey Chadwell and Gregg Marshall.

Chadwell might be a good Power 5 coach... but we're not the only ones who didn't hire him. There's a reason other folks haven't thought he is ready yet...

I get that thought. I do.

But to counter, how many people did we have to outbid for Beamer? No one was giving him a sniff, not even the smaller schools.

Chadwell and Powell should have been hired! Worse case scenario, you get what you are getting now. Best case, you have dedicated winners that hire capable assistants and not washed up coaches with no accountability or dedication to our program.

Chadwell walked into a decent situation a Coastal. Moglia had added some talent and money…his results just started to drop. Freeze didn’t exactly leave the cupboard bare. Has he won, yes. Got in a little trouble at CSU (18 wins vacated). Not sure that is the guy at this point. I’d prefer to see how he is able to build up a pedestrian team first.

If Beamer doesn't get to 6 wins this year, and has less than 7 wins next year, I'm ok with hiring Chadwell.

Curt Cignetti, current Indiana Coach and former James Madison coach, is worth a look, too.

He can win 7 or 8 games a season at IU and have a job for life. IU is the B1G equivalent of UK, football is something to do while counting down to basketball season. I doubt he would leave that job to come to SC and have to deal with a delusional fan base that thinks we are some sort of football power.

I don't understand the thought process of people who assume that any coach SC might be interested in talking to would be interested in taking the head coach job here. This is a program with no history of winning big outside of about 8 or 9 seasons in 130 years. We are the little brother to Clemson when it comes to football and not in an Auburn to Alabama way. Auburn has won championships and is a program with a pretty good history.

We need to find an up and coming FCS or G5 coach who is looking to make a name building a program. I don't think any successful current P4 coach is going to want to leave and go to a job at a program like ours.

Maybe we need to hire a guy who is willing to be a lifetime coach and get us 7 or 8 wins a year while we wait for wbb season to start?

At this point, 7 or 8 wins sounds like an improvement.
