Unlike other sports, I really don't think MSU and Ole Miss have that much of an effect on each other's baseball success, other than the 4 games we play each year.
Both programs are capable of recruiting nationally and don't have to rely on in state players to win. We'll compete for a few players every year, but for the most part both of our programs are good enough to be able to win even if the other one is having success.
On the subject of top level programs, I think the SEC West has as many top programs "potential-wise" as just about anyone. LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, State, and to an extent even Bama all have some of the best support and facilities in the country for baseball. Until you get outside the Southeast, you don't really realize how much bigger baseball is down here than in the rest of the country.
