Being a top job doesn't mean you can just pick and choose your next coach. Some top coaches will just not be interested and some will interested but ultimately decide to stay where they are. But you will be able to hire a big name coach, just like Notre Dame did. 90% of the football programs in the country would love to be able to hire the architect of a multiple Super Bowl winner and multiple time #1 offense in the NFL.

but they couldn't get the number one coach, and that may well be what Casey is. But maybe you can. I don't really know either way.

"State then beats UM in the title game in Hoover." UM was a national seed and finished one game away from Omaha while MSU lost in a road regional. I wouldn't trade our season for MSU's in 2005. "And makes Omaha 2 years later." And follows it up with a sub .500 season while UM is in line to host it's 5th straight regional. I wouldn't trade places.

The comment was made in response to the Swan like comment he made. I don't ever get in to that eggbowl.com ******** over here but that was just a stupid comment to make. As for nobody giving a ****, that can be said about almost every post you make over here. Burn. Jedi Rebel out.

My post had nothing to do with football or basketball. I said I wouldn't trade places with you in baseball. 9-6>3-12. Just as a bowl, NCAA tourney, and Omaha is better than absolutely nothing. Sorry for stating the obvious.

If they are, then I disagree with them. There's a good chance we can't get Casey. He's in a good situation at Oregon St. But anybody who thinks we don't have a chance to get him if we want him is fooling themself. Because a lot of coaches would leave a national championship school for a hefty pay raise, better facilities, and a chance to coach a lot of games in front of 10,000+ fans, even if it did mean leaving home. Casey may not be one of those coaches, but none of us know if he is or not.

I'd trade it in a heartbeat. The postseason run last year was great, but give me consistant success over 7 years of mediocrity, even with the super regional win last year.

It's like I say about basketball, if you keep getting your team there they will eventually break through.

I'd still rather have 4 super regionals in a row, with 3 at home. Even if we had lost all 4 of them.

It has been 3 straight super regionals, 2 at home, with 4 straight home regionals. We plan on losing our 4th super in a row this year.

for 3 SR at home? Not me. And even if that had been the case, you all would still ***** about not making Omaha.

Yeah. Like I'm always bitching about us not making the Sweet 16 in basketball. I believe you have me confused with Coach. I'd be disappointed about not making the CWS for sure, but I'd never ***** about a coach who had taken us to 3 super regionals in a row and hosted 4 regionals in a row.

Edited to add that MSU has never, ever, hosted 4 regionals in a row.

when we set the attendance record, wasn't the outfield rather indefinite in size? Like there wasn't a back boundary to it? And there weren't as many trailers occupying the outfield as well?

I think this might have been discussed before, but might it be the case that regardless of demand for tickets, we might never be able to squeeze that many people out there absent some changes DNF?</p>

I am wondering if the physical constraints that exist now, and didn't exist then (that's really my question) might preclude setting a new attendance record -- not the NCAA precluding it.

Unlike other sports, I really don't think MSU and Ole Miss have that much of an effect on each other's baseball success, other than the 4 games we play each year.

Both programs are capable of recruiting nationally and don't have to rely on in state players to win. We'll compete for a few players every year, but for the most part both of our programs are good enough to be able to win even if the other one is having success.

On the subject of top level programs, I think the SEC West has as many top programs "potential-wise" as just about anyone. LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, State, and to an extent even Bama all have some of the best support and facilities in the country for baseball. Until you get outside the Southeast, you don't really realize how much bigger baseball is down here than in the rest of the country.

......a lot, even though some of our fans go WAY overboard when his team is either succeeding or failing on any particular weekend.

Casey has bigger credentials though, so he's #1 from that list.
