If Oweh plays like the best player on the court and Moreno and Garrison can avoid early foul trouble, we have decent chance to win this game.
No chance, this Florida team is last year's Alabama team. We know how those games ended.I’ll just throw my 2 cents out there.
I’m feeling very similar to pre Arkansas game. At that time, I didn’t feel the best about our chances. I just wanted to go have a good showing and not get smoked since that what everybody said would happen. Now, post pig roast, we’ve got another couple wins, including another Quad 1 victory. While I’m starting to feel a little greedy, I want to keep it on the low.
Nobody thinks we can go to Gainesville and win except maybe a group of blue collar players, their coaches, and a few diehard fans. To be fair, I don’t think it would be realistic to think we can win them all, but man it would feel good to go down there and take the SEC lead outright. I really think we can play this game with house money. We’ll probably be 6-8 point dogs, their gym will be filled with gator chomping fans, and I’m sure Shows, Oglesby, and Anderson will be present. However, we hit some shots, contend on the glass, and play pressure free, we can do it.
I like our chances. They just won a big road game with ease. They might be ripe for the picking.
The Gators are much better than the Hogs
Oh I agree 100% and he’s shown no signs of being “ready” for this type of game, but something “off the wall” has to happen I think for us to pull off the upset. He's just one of the few we have that could “go off” if he got hot. I don’t expect it - just pulling for a rabbit outta the hat hoping! JJ has terrific scoring ability, he’s just struggling getting enough run and with getting comfortable with the size and speed of SEC play. Sometimes a guy like him has “that game” where it all breaks loose. Saturday would be a great time for that to happen.I think this is a game where Jasper would be in over his head. Hope he sticks it in my face. But he will be running into the trees when he drives on that bunch. You better drive intending to slam it. We need MM and Garrison at the top of their games, and this is a game JQ would have really helped. And as you said, we have to hit threes
I think a guy that could provide an unexpected lift is Noah. This shouldn't be a game where he has to worry about being blown by every time down, especially if we zone more. And he should be able to get some open looks. I think he is a guy who can give you three or four 3's if things break rightOh I agree 100% and he’s shown no signs of being “ready” for this type of game, but something “off the wall” has to happen I think for us to pull off the upset. Can’t we just put the “JQ coming back” to rest? He’s not going to play anymore (and no, I don’t have info or “proof” of my opinion other than it seems blatantly obvious to me) and to be quite honest, I wouldn’t want him to. We’ve got a good run going and everyone has finally gotten comfortable in their roles. Moreno has made massive strides this year. Garrison is two games removed from his best game in a UK uniform and Mo D seems to have accepted what he is, a junkyard dog who rebounds and plays D. Let’s ride what we’ve got. Even “if”. JQ were to come back now, it would do nothing but screw up the rhythm we’ve worked weeks to get.Florida has a VERY formidable front court, so this might be the perfect opportunity for JQ to give it another go, especially having that mid week “bye” for extra recovery time!
This would be the perfect game for JQ to return, and start getting ramped up for March Madness as well![]()
You are certainly welcome to your opinion, personally, can't imagine a scenario where a kid as talented as JQ wouldn't be a monster add for us, especially this week. His presence on defense and his rebounding would really help IMOCan’t we just put the “JQ coming back” to rest? Agreed on importance of bigs at least holding their own. Our guards must outplay theirs, and those matchups might favor us, especially AberdeenResume wise similar but Florida is hotter currently and a much worse matchup for us. Our bigs have to be top notch because Florida is big and deep in those positions, matchup wise Florida isn’t good for us but that being said this team can beat anyone on any given night.
I just don’t think he is going to play again. It’s so late in the year I can’t imagine him suiting up again.Florida has a VERY formidable front court, so this might be the perfect opportunity for JQ to give it another go, especially having that mid week “bye” for extra recovery time!

I have no idea why Fland is so bad shooting 3’s. He was way closer to a 37-38% shooter from 3 last year. Talk about a Sophomore slump. They're a very good team. They're not Florida from last year good.
Auburn beat them a few weeks back. I think we need to beat them the same way.
Fland and Lee combined for 15 points on 6/15 shooting. Florida as a whole shot 37% overall and 26% from 3. I think we need to force their guards into long jump shots. Fland is shooting EIGHTEEN percent from 3. Lee is shooting 25% from 3.
Then we have to rebound. Florida outrebounded Auburn 39-32. So limiting it to 7 got it done. The other thing this does is limit how badly Condon and Chinyelu from killing you on put backs from offensive rebounds. They only combined for 11 points vs Auburn.
Haugh is their best scorer. He shoots 35% from 3. We have to really put some defensive emphasis on him to keep him from going off--and funnel the shots into Fland and Lee. Tag a guy to Haugh and tell him not to leave. It's a TOUGH matchup because of his height. This may be a game where we need Dioubate to play a lot. He's 6'7 and a good perimeter defender and he doesn't give up anything weight/strength wise.
I’d like to get one of them in foul trouble or maybe both.Boogie Fland is their starting pg, there is a reason he's still in college and not still at Arkansas.
Florida has holes and most if them are in the backcourt. They are very thin back there.
I’d love to be tied or have a small lead at half again. We came out hot against Arkansas. We need that again.Did I see that they are almost dead last in 3pt shooting?
You know what that means.. bet the over on 3's made for them. Book it.
As for the game: I don't think Kentucky has the mental fortitude just yet, to play for all 40 minutes this game, which is what we will need to beat Florida I think. A team like Tennessee? sure, you can sleep walk for portions of the game, but not this matchup. However, this team IS getting more consistent every game, they are becoming trustworthy of a team, which was something you didn't see even a month ago. So maybe this is the one they come out for almost the entire 40. And if they do, they can win.
Yeah that is ridiculous.Rack. This needs to be addressed at some point.
Good ol' wildcat111. Interesting to go through his comment history....nary an encouraging word about UK basketball. Even when we defeated UT (road), Arkansas (road), and UT again at home. Nothing but radio silence. Now he's telling us we have "no chance" to beat UF. Well, it will be a tough ask, and if we do lose, I suspect he'll show up and be chirping non stop.No chance, this Florida team is last year's Alabama team. We know how those games ended.

And you’re more than welcome to yours as well. Would it be awesome to see the JQ we saw in the second half of St John’s? Of course it would. He changed that entire game on both ends of the court by himself! I just can’t see a scenario where that happens again. He’s barely played all year and the few minutes he played in the 3 games after St John’s, he didn’t look very dominant at all (as we now know, probably swelling/pain from the rehabbed knee). Actually he looked very lost and out of sync. For what’s its worth, I’m not in the pack that says he’s sitting out “just to protect his draft stock” because what he showed when he briefly played certainly didn’t help his draft stock. I honestly think the kid pushed too hard to come back and reinjured his knee. I believe if there were any way he could be playing he would be.You are certainly welcome to your opinion, personally, can't imagine a scenario where a kid as talented as JQ wouldn't be a monster add for us, especially this week. His presence on defense and his rebounding would really help IMO
The longer he sits out to recover, the less sense it makes sense for him to try and play again (for someone who presumably is going to declare for the NBA draft that is) ... loss of conditioning, strength in the leg, etc. If he were planning to stay in college, then it could make more sense.I just don’t think he is going to play again. It’s so late in the year I can’t imagine him suiting up again.
The cats better get ready, the gators will crash the boards and they are big down low.I’ll just throw my 2 cents out there.

Does that mean we’re #1 torvick if we win?Florida is the #1 team on torvik in the past month better than Arizona, Duke, UCONN and Michigan.
"Not great Bob"
We he is definitely capable I’m just shocked how bad he has shot in a good offense system as well. It wouldn’t surprise me it always happens lol.You know how that is, he will hit them from everywhere now, just seams to happen a lot to us.
I’ll just throw my 2 cents out there.

I think it would be a surprise for any team in the country to go into Florida and come out with a win right now.I’ll just throw my 2 cents out there.

We aren’t going down there and beating Florida.
With that being said, it just can’t be yet another one of these stupid *** 20-30 point give up and quit beatdowns Mark is so fond of over the last two seasons.
I agree. I want to see us play hard, make ft's, and play team basketball. The score will take care of itself if we do those things. I think we still probably lose in their arena unless they have an uncharacteristically bad game. Hope we can beat them in Rupp in a few weeks.I think its the hardest game on our entire schedule. They are playing great and that building will be rocking
Moreno just has to make this game the one he finally starts throwing his body around or else we're toast IMO. Would love to see him foul out with 6 minuts to go and 10 rebounds and 2 blocks and maybe one real good flagrant!!Not the best probably because the vandy game is in the back of my mind. If we get down double digits I dont know if we can climb out against florida. They are built to not go on scoring droughts like Tennessee. Too big too many easy buckets inside, but on the other hand we are usually good defensively around the basket
