NIL is a major factor, but if I'm a true winner do I want to be coached by someone that clearly is subpar and will impact my marketability?
We discovered last year that playing a two tight end set solved 90% of our offensive line problems and yet we kept abandoning that look, especially at the end of this season.
Our defense improved by implementing a "let's don't lose" rather than a "let's win this thing and be aggressive" mentality. Winners hate playing with that mindset.
All season long our teams started fast and faded... because we made pitiful (if any) adjustments.
We took forever to "discover" that Super Mario was the ONLY true running back we had. Disgraceful. It was all there in his hilight film if anyone had taken the time to look.
I think Beamer is torpedoing what he started by not demanding excellence. He's worried about hurting the feelings of guys that didn't earn their $400,000 salaries. His first priority needs to be to the players and the fans. this "let's let them save face with me finding a willing taker to get them off my hands" is killing this program. We had the worst performance I've ever seen by an offensive line and yet no one lost their job.
We're all tired of the hype around the "love" that these players feel for one another. That's wonderful but they need to play the game like winners and our coaches are preventing that.
