I admit that I find it hard to believe...

that tomorrow is January 1 and we don't have not one 17in QB worth a **** committed. I know it ain't over but I expected a little more at this point with Mullen as the head coach.

We were really a power running team with some option thrown in. Want good QB recruits have to start 1) winning and 2) show them on the field an offense that features the QB as something other than a RB. Simple.

The offense didn't look attractive passing wise, but I think the big thing is this. We can talk about us being an up and coming program, and young coaches with inventive offensive schemes, but until you win with what you have, good recruits won't come. You have to overachieve with what you have to atract valuable recruits. We should have gone to a bowl game this year. But while we are at home, every other team except Vandy and us are in bowl games. We will get no press in the offseason, and we have no opportunity to show recruits what we have to offer. I don't think it's as much about the offense we put on the field, but more how often they get to see us, and how good we are when they do. Recruits know that with Tyson as our only passing option we were very limited. But what they want to find out is if we can get to the postseason with that disadvantage at QB. And the answer is no, so I think we will suffer a little in recruiting due to that.

because we had no QB capable of completing a pass on a consistent basis, which I think would be an attractive opportunity for a QB to come in and work with Mullen and create a more wide open game. It's not like he's never coached a QB in a balanced offense. And he's recruited a lot of WRs for a reason. But yet no QB in this class, so far, to throw it to them.

who would sign because of him may be looking elsewhere in the belief that he won't be at State long enough for them to get their four years in. In all probability, that is being used against us in recruiting.

has limited effectiveness under the best of circumstances but at a place like MSU with what we have traditionally put on the field it is even less effective.

a bowl game is not going to be easy next year either. We will essentially have the same type schedule next year we had this year (swap GT for Georgia and Vandy/MTSU for Memphis/UAB) and we will have to face that schedule with a starter who has never played a down of college football (Russell) OR a starter who is little to no threat in the passing game (Relf). Also, Auburn likely just got much better with the addition of Newton which makes that game even tougher to win. We could easily be 1-3 out of the gate with the stretch of Auburn, Georgia and LSU to start the SEC. If we don't get a good DC we could be struggling just trying to make 6-6 again next year especially with no Anthony Dixon to depend on.

I think the whole "hot corch" thing evolved from his name being thrown around as a replacement for Meyer and Mangino....especially Meyer.

Cost us a bowl game this year and may cost us one next year.
