I don't know who they will hire from their staff, but I can't see them wanting to blow what they have up. If they hire Stoops, or even Mullen, they're going to want to bring some of their guys with them. They're going to have to find someone that will be willing to keep things the way they are for the most part as far as staffing.
That would to me say it is Mullen or Strong. They may not be part of the current staff, but they are close enough. I doubt there is anyone else on the current staff that is ready to take over. If this is something they knew about for a few weeks, then I doubt they would have let Strong go (if they indeed wanted him).
on their staff with any HC experience is Dan McCarney, who coached at Iowa State and actually did a pretty good job there. He took them to several bowls, and was the assistant HC for Florida.
I would be surprised if he got the job unless it was it was with the interim title (which would surprise me as well). He is a little bit older and probably not the future of the program.
If they were going to hire within it would have to be someone with prior head coaching experience like McCarney. I don't think that Foley would take a chance on someone without it...ala the failed Ron Zook experiment.
