I need a new show to stream, since my summer calendar just opened up.

Turning Point, the Cold War. Docuseries on Netflix.

Very informative. A few liberal spins on things, but primarily just a factual account of US/Russia relations from Hitler's death to the war in Ukraine.

I learned more about thermonuclear bombs than I ever knew before.

I'm biding my time until the new seasons of The Boys and House of the Dragon start later this month
I've been hesitant to start it because I didn't want to be let down, but is House of the Dragon good? Does it hold up to the standard of quality set by GoT (ending notwithstanding)?

Having just binged watched GoT and its gradual decline in quality, I wasn't expecting much from House of the Dragon. It was good enough that I'm looking forward to the upcoming season, and finally watching it "live" with everyone else.

Wow.. I shouldn’t start drinking so early in the morning.
Well, I think the post you responded to called it Slow Dogs too. I was genuinely asking if it was a new show. I enjoyed Slow Horses and I like Gary Oldman, so I thought maybe he had something else he was working on.

I'm going to through this out there. This is a series on Youtube so it's free. It's called Breaking the Silence. There are 7 episodes. Done really well. This is the trailer.

I’m not a huge fan but am invested now. My biggest complaint is everyone is blonde and names all start with Rhy—- so i can never remember who is who.

I'm going to eventually get to both of these. Heard lots of good things over the years.

I do think you may be confusing Scorsese with Coppola on the Godfather reference.
I stand corrected. rumor has it Coppola wanted Scorsese to direct GF2, but the film executives nixed it. However, Scorsese did do the aforementioned Goodfellas, Mean Streets, The Departed, & Raging Bull among others. Gotta give the nod to Coppola's GF & GF2 for the greatest mob movies of all time, but Scorsese's were a damn close 2nd, IMO.

In addition to the other recs, Righteous Gemstones and Vice Principles, if humor, with a touch of realism, is your bag. Trying to get into "What we do in the Shadows," but the jury is still out.

If adult animation is your bag, it doesn't get better than South Park and Family Guy. Archer is funny, but gets old quickly, Royal Crackers is another good one.

For serious viewing, The Terminal List is good and The Jack Ryan seasons are decent, but there are huge holes in both.

The first Halo season was good also.
If not watched already, The Sopranos is likely the best series produced. The first iteration of GOT is good, but goes off the rails the last couple of seasons. Band of Brothers and the The Pacific are great.

Whoever suggested A Man in Full was spot on.
Watched first two episodes last night, probably try and finish it up tonight.

I just came across Almost Paradise on prime/freevee. If you like Christian Kane, a definite watch.

And in case you haven't watched it Loudermilk is LMFAO.

It also helps that his partner is easy on the eyes too.

I'm watching Into the Wild Frontier. It's about early American mountain men and pioneers. Its on Tubi and/or Freevee.

Shogun on hulu

It’s game of thrones in feudal japan
GoT seems to be the new standard comp, like Die Hard used to be. Speed was "Die Hard on a Bus", Hunt for Red October was "Die Hard on a Sub" and Point Break was "Die Hard with surfing, skydiving, bankrobbing plus Patrick Swayze." All descriptors which worked like a charm. I was all in on each before the previews started.

I always heard Vikings was "Game of Thrones at Sea" and now Shogun is in play. Sounds like I will have to watch.

GoT fans need to watch Last Kingdom if you haven’t. Uhtred son of Uhtred.

if GoT and Vikings had a baby, it would be Last Kingdom.

Destiny is all.

I think I read on here, and the poster may have stolen it from Reddit, that they could rename the show Uhtred Has A Bad day, and I can't unthink how fitting that is.

Baby Reindeer on Netflix is weird and skressful, but I couldn't quit watching it.

Abbott Elementary is solidly funny and doesn't take itself too seriously.

LA Law is on Hulu, just fantastic background tv,

Baby Reindeer was aweful, watched it with the wife and i only got through 2 episodes, she finished it but said it was aweful as well. We do like Abbott and we never watched LA Law when it was on Tv so we may give that a shot.

If you haven't seen Fauda on Netflix about the Israel Hamas ISIS conflict it's very "in tents". I just finished it for the 2nd time.

Suggestions? What's the pack watching?

Not a series, however, I’m not above a shameless plug for those who haven’t seen my film from a few years back titled BLOOD COUNTRY. I believe it is currently available to stream on Tubi and a couple of other platforms.

If you are a fan of Mississippi history (or just films made in Mississippi with cast and crew members who are MSU alums), give it a watch! It comprises more MSU alums (both as cast and production team) than you typically find in MS-made films.

The last time I solicited The Pack to check it out, I was humbled by the responses received from this group (both within my threads and via DMs). I have a couple of other feature films that I’ve worked on (in a supporting actor-capacity) that I could also suggest at a later time. However, I feel like one recommendation is sufficient for the moment (do not want to come across as a shameless solicitor)! And as always, if you do check out the film, feel free to provide any feedback (no matter how candid).

Synopsis:
Blood Country is a western-style thriller based on a true story of events that took place in & around Lawrence County, MS in 1884. The screenplay was adapted from Robert E. Jones’ short story “The Outlaw, the Sheriff and the Governor,”. The film tells the story of a young man accused of murdering his brother in the small southern MS town of Oak Vale in 1884, and the honorable sheriff tasked with bringing him to justice. The film was shot exclusively in Mississippi and is steeped in post-Civil War/Reconstruction history.

The first season of True Detective is great, Woody and Matthew, it would be had to improve on it. Season 4 (girl power!) was awful, I've head the same for seasons 2 and 3, but haven't seen them.

Which Sherlock? I think I’ve seen them all, but want to make sure I haven’t missed one.

Black Sails on Netflix.

It would be GoT at sea, but way more boobs.

That was surprisingly really good; well written, well acted, wasn't filmed in a trick-you small scale, etc. It was suggested to me by the algorithm for a while. Finally took a flier on it & glad I did.
