If Hutzler is retained - what is your response as a fan?

Our administration and coaching staff are telling the fanbase that football isn't a top priority and we should accept failure. I wish the entire fanbase would boycott football games next year. What a complete failure.

I had some hope at the beginning of the year. SHOWTIME hype! Talk of high scoring games. Currently, I see us as only slightly improved on offense (not saying much) but continuing the downward spiral on defense. Overall, I have no faith in the direction of the program. So, although nobody will notice or care, no more season tickets for my family until I see a reason to believe the trajectory of the program has changed. HOWEVER, I will still attend the egg bowl for no other reason than to not break my streak of consecutive egg bowl's attended - next year will be number 49 for me and 18 for my son. Other than that game, I'll find a better way to spend my fall Saturdays.

Hard for me to be less checked out. I'm past disappointed/embarassed. Now it's just a laughing stock scenario so I guess I'll laugh along with them.

Keeping Hutzler screams the obvious. The money isn't there to fire him and, more importantly, to be trusted with Selmon and Lebby to find an upgrade. It's pretty obvious that Lebby doesn't have any good industry connections that want to gamble on working for him. So why give him more money to waste on another undeserved promotion to SEC DC. Selmon / Lebby are being told "what we gave you the first time better work or you are both gone".

Could be nothing, could be bitching online, could be not giving any more $$$.

Just curious how serious everyone is about it.
I checked out last year. I watch games and try to make 1-2 in person, but with kids getting older and having no interest in attending MSU, I don't have much going anyway. Sad to see the university we love in the way it is.

My response is Mississippi State has fully embraced "failure at football" and it lets me know the administration is perfectly ok with it. Why care about Mississippi State Football anymore? There's not a legitimate enough reason to justify caring about it anymore.
This is basically my feelings. How plastic man has handled football along with his AD pick has completely dismantled our football program while he is off wining and dining with the CFP committee

Raise your hand if you've never seriously considered asking yourself this question about the state or condition of the football program at MSU:

"Is this what it feels like to be a Vanderbilt fan?"

That's where I am at the moment.
Been there. My freshman year, 1971. Vanderbilt skull dragged us to a tune of 10 - 49 at DWS. Vandy was 4-6-1 that year. To me that year Vandy was a powerhouse. We have come full circle.

Like I said in the thread I started a couple of days ago, I won't be renewing my tickets, and I'm not giving anymore money if he's retained. It will be just another in a long line of indicators that we're not serious about football and that the leadership is incompetent and doesn't care to do anything to make our plight any better.

I'm not rich and I don't like forking over big bucks to be miserable for months at a time, so I'm going to find something else to do with my entertainment money and fall weekends other than watching this horsesh!t.

I care for two ninety-year old parents who are falling apart. Going to games is a relief from the difficult situation, but this year was a nightmare of arranging sitters or siblings. When I got to the games I was shock at how the “worthy opponents “ ran thru us so easily. Now, the BC just asked me for $2000 for “excellence”. I have to think about this opportunity to support the school. Right now, I am not inclined to give anything to the sh*t show my school put on the field.
That's my thing. What are they doing with the money they have now? Doesn't look like it was used wisely and I don't trust them with decisions being made the way they are all the way to the top

After Leach died, I was sad and depressed.
After the Arnett fiasco, I was numb.
This year I had a glimmer of hope.
Then I was in the stands for the first half of the Toledo debacle.
The rest of the season does not exist.
It is almost as if there was never a 2024 season in my mind.
It now appears that the status quo is acceptable for the decisionmakers.
Fine. See y'all at Alumni Band weekend 2025. It is the only reason I have to go to a game anymore.

My dog already stays clear after this season, so not sure what or who else I can kick at this point.

There’s no way a $2 million buyout can be an obstacle here. No way.
It's not the money. It's the head coach and his loyalty. As others have said up this thread - he's now adopted Hutz, so Lebby has made them a package deal next year.

Lebzler? Hubby? We need to workshop names for the dynamic duo because their fate is knotted together at this point.

Gone With The Wind I Dont Care GIF

I checked out on football when Leach died honestly. I quit writing the checks when they took my baseball parking pass away that I’d had for years. They obviously haven’t missed me.

Nothingness. I have no feelings for MSU football any more. Pay some attention to basketball, but not much. Baseball is the only MSU sport I'm involved with or care about. Just that time I have accepted our lot in SEC football. We are the win-feeders for the other SEC teams. We only exist to pad their records.

Ole Miss was there 5 years ago. It's just unfortunately our time in the shitstorm which came at the worst time possible. There's so much change happening in college football - you don't want to suck.

My response will be the same either way - I won’t care about anything related to msu football till we win some games. Not renewing season tickets and not going to waste time worrying about our DC

Conspicuously absent from this thread is that pearl clutching cuntshit, Bulldawg77.

Imagine being so tone-deaf you guilt our fan base to give more money to this coaching/admin clownshow.

Self inflicted by our president s d AD if you ask me. If any time begged for experienced AD and experienced coach it was right now but Keenum either too dumb, emotionally blinded, or too busy with CFP commitments that he didn't see a clear path when he needed to and the Selmon didn't understand the assignment. Brings in Lebby who was a good OC but then had no clue couldn't convince players nor position coaches to join him like Moorhead or Mullen. Then went no experience for DC. Just self inflicted all around.

At this point I just assume Keenum (and everyone else in charge) are just a bunch of idiots. It's probably why Jans tried so hard to get away after last season. To answer the question though, I'll just save my money. If they don't care, why should I care?

App State fired their head coach today, and presumably the new coach will bring his staff with him.

I wonder how Lebby likes the mountains of North Carolina?

Let’s be honest, firing Hutzler would be the absolute, bare bones minimum that fans of any half reputable football program should expect after this past season. Doing that and bringing in an actual proven DC might move the anticipation needle a hair, but again… we’re talking bare minimum expectations

If we seriously can’t or won’t even do that, it puts the nail in the coffin as far as my view of our athletic administration. They’ve got incredibly difficult jobs, and I don’t blame Selmon or Lebby for every mistake. I sure as hell expect them to own and fix the bad ones, though. If they don’t have the wherewithal to do this or you know, actually perform their jobs as leaders… I will not give a dime towards Stste football until they’re all gone. All of them

He’s either in on it or he’s too dumb to see what is going on.

After the Toledo game it was obvious our HC wasn't ready for "Showtime" or any other time for that matter. I go back to Coach Mullen's first year, which in my opinion was his best, it gave us all hope and we were excited for the next year. Also, with each game we improved. Not the case for this year with Lebby. We did not improve in any area to the extent we had a chance to win a single SEC game in the 4th quarter. I'm out unless some serious changes are made that demonstrate the HC wants to get better quickly. It's hard to justify continuing to donate and spend hundreds on a game weekend to watch us get whipped each Saturday. I hate this for the fans and the Starkville business community. We are a household with 4 State alumni so we love the Dogs but not this!

Unless there is a remarkable portal class I’m pretty much emotionally numb from the start. What sucks is I won’t be able to hate on Will next year either so I guess I’ll just hate on Ole Miss, Texas, ND, and Colorado.
Similar for me. Except I am going to hate every program that hired a new coach this past year and had enough success to build on for next year!
