If Penn State goes 11-1, would that make it Franklin's best PSU team? Allar's place in PSU QB history?

You lost me after Fusina and let's not pretend you are old enough to remember Richie Lucas, I don't think you are any older than me and I barely remember Hufnagel.
MO.
It goes
1. Collins
2.Blackledge
3. McSorley
4. Allar
5. Clark
6. Fusina
7. Robinson
8.Sacca
9. Zack Mills
10. Shaeffer/Sacca
I find the "No wins agains top 10-20 teams" argument disingenuous at best.
Also McGloin has more INT's in one game than Allar does in years.
Wellll I remember Riverboat Richie. Heck of a Db and punter as well. And Yes, I am that old. :ROFLMAO:

If Penn State goes 11-1, would that make it Franklin's best PSU team? This team doesn't have the WRs the '16 and '17 teams did, but the OL is better. Both the '16 and '17 teams had two regular season losses. Four points was the margin of defeat for the '17 team to two ranked teams. Just six yards was all Penn State needed against Ohio State for 14 points. This year's team has been ranked high all year. The '16 team lost in the Rose Bowl and the '17 team won the Fiesta Bowl. Would a playoff win make it Franklin's best team?

Where do you rank Drew Allar's place in PSU QB history? He has not had the wide receiving corps the equal of many past Penn State QBs and his ball security touchdown-to-interception ratio is very good. Would you suggest he return for his senior season? Do you think he will?
Skill position talent 2016 is better just because of Saquon Barkley, Gesicki, Godwin, etc were SO good; however, most completeness, I believe this team may have that. As for DA, I’d say physically and traits wise, he is the best QB specimen PSU has ever seen. He’s got a bigger arm than McSorely, Sean, DC, etc. More mobility than Hack, Kerry Collins. He just needs some more help. I wouldn’t recommend him stay if the kid is a first rounder.
"IF" PSU goes 11-1, I would say this is Franklin's best team. I believe this team would have handled Michigan under the old schedule this season.
I'm also not going to anoint Indiana until they play a legit opponent.
I wouldn't be surprised in addition to being his best team that 11-1 and a 1st round playoff win would make this Franklin's last PSU team.
I really can’t see CJF going elsewhere

Collins
Blackledge
Fusina
Hufnagel
Lucas
Robinson
Mcsorely
Clark
Mills. Modified. lol
Shaeffer. Yep I said it. He lost one game in two years. 1!
Sacca
Mcgloin.
So allar is somewhere or could be somewhere near or at ten. He has 5-6 games left? Scoring zero touchdowns against osu doesn’t help. In two years, no wins against top 10-20? Teams.
Is this based on winning? Physical traits? Who you’d rather have?

He is right above them. lol. He has no wins against top 15-20 teams. He also had the number 1 defense in the country and this year a pretty damn good defense as well.
Number 19 Illinois; time of the game matters. This statement is disingenuous to pass it off as truth to fit the narrative. I’m not saying he doesn’t need bigger wins, but it is a team game and when making arguments be completely transparent with your facts.

Allar number 4. lol. You have got to be kidding me. Oh damn i forgot about mills. No way is he in front of fusina Clark or Robinson. He is not a big game qb. He can prove himself in the second round 3rd round of playoffs to move up.
Robinson and fusina and Lucas top 5 heisman. Schaefer beat 4 top 10 teams including 1 and 2 and played in 2 national champs. Clark’s 2008 was very good. 2009 beat lsu in bowl game . Could you imagine these guys with ak as oc instead of jaypa?
Yes, I can imagine a team in the early 2000s with a mobile QB running modern concepts with an OC that prefers mobile QBs succeeding by a lot.

He beat a number 19 team. That is your argument? lol. That would be in last place just based on that. Lol

Well you can look up their success,
Led teams to natl champs, undefeated or 1 loss season, top 5 heisman, winning big champs, beating multiple ranked teams, etc. allar hasn’t done any of that at all. He can this year and move up into the top 10.

No, my argument was you being disingenuous with your facts, you said “he hasn’t beaten a top 15-20 team”, belittle my statement all you want, but facts are facts. Again, if you use these statements be transparent with them.

Okay, not physical traits, based on team success and accolades. Got it.

Yes the qb is the leader and leads the team to great heights and when people rank him top 5? Top 8 over some of our qbs who did it is laughable and naive.

What exactly is the point that you are making about allar. He beat a team ranked 19th. That is the hill you want to die on? Really. Or are you just trolling. Fine I will revise my statement. He hasn’t beaten a team in the top 18. Hahahahaha. Facts matter. 🤣

Nothing trolling about this list.
allar can earn the right to be in the top 10 this year. I hope he does it! I will be at each playoff game. Will you?

Obviously, I am very happy with James. I know him to be a very good person off the field as well. However, there are a multitude of circumstances that could come into play. Many that most of us wouldn't normally consider. I do know that the negativity is being heard. It isn't going to have a positive impact. He isn't going to work harder. Only a complete moron would question his work ethic. He's not playing golf with Steve Spurrier, during the week, for instance. I've been told directly by a father that in essence, my son is here because of James. This is the case with many as I hate to tell fans that most players are not loyal to dear old state. The negative behavior is viewed as betrayal. I've also gotten the sense that life hasn't been "perfect" for his family here.
Add to this the soul searching every coach experiences. There is great satisfaction in "building" a program. Now before some go bonkers....I'm simply saying, putting your "stamp" on the program and watching all aspects improve. Franklin came here to deal with a pretty depleted roster and other sanction issues. Many other facets were left unchanged for years and needed upgrades. Some things like admissions were hurdles. I can tell you that trying to get players thru the portal met with typical "red tape." Finally, as part of the process, a coach wonders....has my message gone stale? Do we all need a change of scenery? The roster reflects the recruiting, which is usually top 12-15. The facilities may finally be discussed in the top 20. His last extension which is still moaned about here, actually included more upgrades in salary for assistants and coordinators. The support staff has grown to big boy proportions.
The casual fan might think "we pay him 8 million dollars a year. He should win more. Also, he should expect to experience negative reactions."
Well, my response is this is somewhat accurate. But PSU isn't the only university paying its football coach millions of dollars. TAM gave Jimbo Fisher a kings ransom, how'd that work out? I don't wish to go thru the list of at least a dozen coaches who are paid more than Franklin and half or more do not have their teams positioned for the playoff run. Hell 24 coaches are paid of 7 million per year.
My concern is getting past Minnesota. It's not easy to win in the Big 10 on the road. They will be ready off a bye. Then, if PSU wins a playoff game....does Franklin say, this is as far as I can go here? I need a change of scenery, a new challenge, more NIL support. Or, as I hope, does he stay because of the great relationships he finally has here with the likes of Pat Kraft?
I think anyone can relate to "coming to a crossroads" in their career. Mine came in the 8th year of my tenure as a high school coach. I took over a program that rarely approached .500. The best season in their history was 6 wins. I was 24 and got my brains beat in for a few years. 3 seasons to get over .500. Finally, the schools first championship in our 6h year. We were a contender every season after that until I became fulltime AD after year 13. I recall one season in particular, we went 9-1. Lost the championship game 7-6. As human nature dictates, when we started winning a booster club emerged. They always sponsored a season ending banquet. At the banquet that season, sitting with my wife and assistant coaches I listened to one "booster" after another regale the attendees with thinly disguised shots at our coaching and the impediments faced by "their" beloved team to reach their goals. After all the booze fueled speeches It was finally my turn to speak. I recall saying, "In our first year here, we won 1 game and everyone wondered HOW? This season we lost one game by one point and people are asking "WHY?" Dead silence! LOL
What they didn't know was I was sitting on an offer to move on to a much larger school with a rich tradition, that had fallen on hard times.
Ultimately, I decided to stay and it turned out to be a great decision. I hope James does the same.
