I'm considered the boy who cried wolf, but 2023, PSU should compete for a Nat'l Championship.

This team looks to be locked and loaded for next year. With a high projected prospect at QB and maybe the best RB group in the country with top TE's and solid O-line. The Defense should be outstanding. I'm happy its 2023

Shalom

P.S. Every year I almost project that we should compete for the National Championship or at least make the CFP

Depends on your definition of compete.

It’s all up to the coaches. Let’s be honest the 2023 schedule is putrid. West Virginia to start is an old rivalry but they aren’t going to be very good. Anyone excited about UMass or Delaware? We miss out on West opponents Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minn, getting only Iowa of the better teams in that division. So it’s all OSU and Michigan again. Talk about all of your eggs in 2 baskets. Do you trust CJF to pull off either of those victories much less both Because that is what it’s going to take to be in the playoffs.

As long as Franklin is head coach, they will not compete for any thing other than the lower tier bowl games. With him, you are guaranteed at least two losses.

If I’m a def cord scheming against PSU next year I’m loading the box to stop the run until the QB shows he can beat me passing the ball.

Your going to have the same problems as this year. WR’s cannot get open. D line not nearly big or athletic enough, and LB behind 11 and 23 are just not athletic enough. All the more reason that it is so frustrating that our staff is getting curb stomped in the portal. If we could plug a few hopes we could be really good.

KLS looked pretty open to me on that 88 yard TD

It’s early. Kids will still enter the portal. Probably some candidates for us to target. It’s not like the portal is closed and we didn’t get anybody.

Yeah, not like Franklin has taken the team to 4 New Years 6 bowl games (two rose bowls, Fiesta bowl, cotton bowl), winning three of them.

You consider the Rose Bowl against the number 8 ranked team a "lower tier" bowl? What a clown.

Currently, the Rose is an "upper tier" bowl game, but a notch below the playoff semi sites (in years when it's not a host). Thus, when the playoff expands, I guess the hosts of the quarters can be called "upper tier" and the semis "top tier." Not sure at this point what to call the rest, though my inclination ain't pretty.

Maybe start with occasionally beating Ohio State and Michigan?

Look at his profile. He has 3 posts and joined Dec 24th. He’s a troll. Just ignore him.
True he’s probably a troll, and not a good one at that. However we shouldn’t dismiss people on when they joined and how many posts they have. Everyone here started with just one post.

We almost beat Oklahoma in 85, the game was closer than the score indicated. Miami was clearly the better team in 86, we won. For both of their NCs this century Ohio State beat a better team. Funny things can happen.

Getting to the playoff is going to take beating at least one of tOSU and Michigan every year regardless of any OOC or cross-division games. That's pretty much the nature of being in a conference.

That’s fair but looking at that, plus the username, and content of his posts, he’s here to fan flames and start issues. I do agree with you that we shouldn’t assume off those 2 points. I did a poor job of explaining the full rationale in my assessment.
