You boys are depressing.
Wish we had better performing athletic teams? Sure. But do I evaluate the quality of my university and my life based on whether those teams win games. Of course not. I haven’t been a 6th grader in over 40 years.Do better MSU. I’ve been a devout bulldog my whole life, but you’re losing me. I’m a winner and you’re a loser.
Me too....the late 90s MSU was great to me when I was in school.....i married a rebel and live in oxford....my daughter will be freshman at UM in the fall....that was to be expected.....my soon to be 9th grader is die hard bulldog, but im scared im losing him...."we suck" is every reason he doesnt want to leave oxford and go to the games.....praying we turn it around in the next few years....baseball is his love, so hope we can keep some sort of normalcy there.I love Mississippi State. The experiences and education I received led me to a better life.
As I have said, the pain points those of us who graduated in the late 90s/early 00s are going to feel soon is many of our children are going to choose another route.
It's not just athletics. It's academic quality, Starkville going backwards again, and cringe social media.
What? You mean sports doesn't define who I am as a person? I'm not better and smarter than you because a bunch of paid mercenaries that play for the school I root for wins? Damn, my purpose in life is gone. Roll Tide!Wish we had better performing athletic teams? Sure. But do I evaluate the quality of my university and my life based on whether those teams win games. And doggone it people like you.Do better MSU. I’ve been a devout bulldog my whole life, but you’re losing me. I’m a winner and you’re a loser.
Actually this is as level as the playing field has ever been. No more ratting out your rivals for committing the same sins you commit and Alabama doesn’t get to pay players any more than anyone else does.We certainly have some things that need fixing in the athletic department, but I blame a lot of our current problems on this stupid NIL / portal situation we find ourselves in. We are trying to compete in a world where we don’t have a level playing field.
Shocking, I know. What? You mean sports doesn't define who I am as a person? I'm not better and smarter than you because a bunch of paid mercenaries that play for the school I root for wins? Damn, my purpose in life is gone. Roll Tide!
This isn't an airport. You don't have to announce your departure.Do better MSU. I’ve been a devout bulldog my whole life, but you’re losing me. I’m a winner and you’re a loser.
Yep.Grateful for my academic and social experiences at state during an important season of life. Set me up well for professional advancement.
I endured tech and ten, so the sports side was always going to be not just disappointing, but clownshow level suckitude.
Mine is currently at University of Arkansas and it doesn’t bother me one bit. Just a few years ago the thought of my kids going anywhere but state wouldn’t have even been a conversation. Keenum is going to run the university into the ground.I love Mississippi State. The experiences and education I received led me to a better life.

Ole Miss is similar is size and resources to us and has had a top 15 football team and is about to make the sweet 16. We had one of the highest paid basketball rosters in the sec this year. NIL is not our issueIf it becomes apparent over the next few years that the NIL era isn't reformed in a way that benefits small unis in major conferences then State should drop to Conference USA or something similar. I'd rather watch the team win and compete against similar opponents than lose any day of the week and it gives me no relief to think yeah but we're still in the SEC. SEC SEC SEC...I don't give a damn about that.
I’ve had two people from the university PM me on here reaching out about my thoughts on the scholarship matrix. My dumbass thought “Het, maybe someone gives a damn”. Nope, it was please take it down, you are pointing out unpleasant truths.Mine is currently at University of Arkansas and it doesn’t bother me one bit. Just a few years ago the thought of my kids going anywhere but state wouldn’t have even been a conversation. Keenum is going to run the university into the ground.
That’s not how it works. Mississippi State has literally changed my life, as it has thousands of others.I'd suggest everyone who is sick of it all, leave. Stop posting and going to games etc. You guys need to get their attention. Everyone supports you!
The rot is deeper than that but that’s most of the top layer.I’m more tired of Keenum, Selmon, Lebby & Lemonis being associated with our university.
I agree with this. Keenum may be a good person but he's a big part of the reason we are where we are. He dragged his feet on hiring an AD when cohen left and that mistake has sent us spiraling downhill due to him having to make a football hire when Leach diedI was thinking about Calipari and Kentucky. He did a good job for a long time and then somehow got stale. His change to Arkansas was good for all parties. In my mind I make an analogy with State and Keenum. Right now we are stagnant academically and athletically and the whole university needs a breath of fresh air. It would need to be the right person and will probably be the most important hire in the history of the school (which is scary) but we are headed in a bad direction right now IMO.
Take a look at this excellent reasoning applied to the athletic department. Now apply it to admission, academic departments, student life, research, extension. Everything is a mess.I agree with this. Oh well, sounds like their family is down on State and Starkville and that can't help. But I've got two kids their right now. One grad school, one pre-med and they love it ! Both will be in the medical field, so don't tell me State the school isn't good, they're succeeding and love Starkville. That’s not how it works. Mississippi State has literally changed my life, as it has thousands of others.
Many of us would like to see that love for State passed to the next generation. It’s not happening. In my family alone, my generation has four MSU grads. Our kids are 0-for-6 and have all attended other SEC schools. I have niece that was at Orientation at MSU and left because she just couldn’t do it. Ended up at Alabama.
Now my daughters are coming up and have zero interest in State. We are looking at 0-for-8 in one family.
Ole Miss also has incredible leadership. Their cabinet is full of elite talent. We have a very vocal influential cabinet member that could not handle the lunch rush at Little Dooey. We have alot of similarities to OM but money and support isn't one of them.
They have a billionaire that gives. Their rank and file show up and give. State doesn't and don't.
Buy football tickets and show up.
MSU Sports has been NSFW enough.Nobody's talking about the real problem. We haven't had a NSFW post in...

My daughters aren't going to State. LSU, Ole Miss and Arkansas are more likely options. They don't give a damn about sports, though. My two State degrees and my wife's two LSU degrees have given them a great life. That’s not how it works. Mississippi State has literally changed my life, as it has thousands of others.

What Arkansas is doing to recruit smart Mississippi kids is not getting enough attention. My daughters aren't going to State. LSU, Ole Miss and Arkansas are more likely options. My son wants to go to State. We are headed there for a visit in a few weeks. He’d be a 3rd generation Bulldog. But, we are out of state and I don’t faith in Keenum and Co. to give him the financial aid he’s earned. That’s not how it works. Mississippi State has literally changed my life, as it has thousands of others.

Considering that elite students from Mississippi aren’t getting good scholarships because we are giving 20 ACT students scholarships, I don’t think you will be happy with your OOS offer.l

We haven’t been so bad at the money-making sports all at once since I can remember. Apathy has set in across the board. We absolutely have to get rid of Keenum. He’s the alpha and the omega of every bit of our current problems.
“They don’t know what they have.”Beard was too tainted for IU to hire, they are liberal PC program now, but their fan base wanted him. I suspect he will be a hot name after this season. If they mare the Elite Eight he is gone, you can count on that. I doubt they know what they have, if they were smart they would give him a raise and try to lock him up with a huge buyout.
Interesting. My next door neighbors are both lawyers and have some really smart kids. They've put a lot of research into colleges and (to my surprise) their oldest is leaning towards Arkansas next year. What Arkansas is doing to recruit smart Mississippi kids is not getting enough attention.
The New Arkansasan Scholarship is genius.
