I define it more by era's then all time. It's too hard to compare Wilt's era versus Jordans versus LeBron.... So much difference in training, weights, cardio, equipment, sleep/rest, psychology, diet, etc. Sure it's fun to compare Wilt was playing in Converse high tops Chuck Taylors, Jordan had a gym in his house that would make anyone or fitness center jealous. So much difference between the era's it's just too hard IMHO to compare. Wilt to his credit was probably the best all around athlete. Just looking at his talent on basketball, track and field, volleyball it was amazing how good he really was at so many things.

Cool. That doesn't make him the GOAT. I hate Jordan but I put those feelings aside when talking GOAT. My favorite NBA player of all time is Manu Ginobili. He’s not the GOAT. My favorite current NBA player is Jrue Holiday. I doubt he’s one of the top fifteen players in the NBA now.

Rick, I’ll admit that there was never a player more fun to watch than Barkley, with the exception of Maravich and maybe Manu. Feel better?

I will agree with Potter than Jordan was the best ever that I saw (Wilt before my time and he may well be the answer).
This may be controversial, but my vote for most overrated is Russell.

A news reporter asked Michael Jordan if he thought the ’90s Bulls could beat LeBron’s Lakers. MJ: Yes. Reporter: By how much? MJ: Two or three points. Reporter: Why so close? MJ: Most of us are almost 60 now.

Jordan is the GOAT. I don't think I've ever seen an athlete in any sport with a similar drive to win and such a high level of competitiveness.

I watched Sam play my buckskins back in the day several times in our gym. Warmups he’d drain them from the corner over and over. I always rooted for him after hs
Agree. Fun watching him in high school. Was a packed house everywhere he went. Lebanon had a cast of characters his junior year..

You don’t think Tom Brady has that?

I never saw Wilt in his prime so my assessment is based solely on using the early 1970s as a starting point.

There is Michael Jordan who stands alone (and it is not even close). Then you can debate who comes in 2nd place.
