Here's something to consider. It's my opinion that the coaching staff didn't exert themselves in an effort to keep KLS. I surmise they have tired of his shtick and with Fleming serving as a positive role model...they see others improving and challenging KLS for snaps.
With about 15 WR on the roster, a considerable number are headed for the exit sign. I like a healthy Wallace, Evans and Saunders. That and a 12 personnel package will have to jell. Jerry Rice isn't coming.

Ouch! It going to be a very, very long season if Penn State trots out Wallace, Evans, and Fleming as the starting WRs.

At this point KLS is who he is and that's not enough to be a #1 WR. Problem is, nobody on the roster is a #1. We've got way too many Z's and not enough X's & Y's.

Longer than last year?

KLS peaked a while back. I'd still prefer him on the roster, but it's entirely plausible he got passed up or wasn't showing the toughness expected by the position coach.

I'm hoping the younger guys took/take their strides through the offseason and we don't miss KLS come September.

Wait, Fleming had just under 1,000 yards and 4 TDs while starting two years with nothing other than WRs that were all first round picks.

He's only got to be like only 5 times better than any WR we have on the entire roster.

Do you realize Fleming played 4 years at Ohio State? Fleming averaged less than 250 yards per season which is awful. Especially when you consider he was a 5 star recruit and the number one rated WR from High School in the 2020 class.

Fleming is a nice guy by all accounts. However, he is a possession type WR who was never known as a deep threat.

Bottom line, Fleming represents a small incremental improvement but not the 5 times you stated.

First, who gives a rip about his HS rating. Its meaningless. I also could care less that he is from PA. I'd say what I'm about to say if he came from the moon.

Do you understand the quality of the guys he has been competing with? PSU didn't have a receiver on the current roster that would have seen the three deep at OSU over the last 4 years let alone started. Possession receiver with that crew. Is the best WR at about every other team in the B10.

One of the last guys that left OSU that couldn't start there, ended up being a first round pick after playing at Bama for one year.

Just to be clear Jameson Williams played two years at OSU and had 6 starts with career numbers of 15 balls for 266 yards and 3 TDs. His numbers pale in comparison with Flemings. Your comments show a complete lack of a appreciation for how good the receivers at OSU have been.

If Fleming is healthy, he's off the board inside of three rounds in the next NFL draft. Thats pretty much a given. Do you understand, every starter that OSU has had at WR since the 2019 season has been a first round pick in the NFL draft. Oh, and this guy started for two years. I think he left because he understood, he's likely not a first round pick while about 4 other guys in that room might be, and he wants the chance to be a 60 or 70 catch guy, instead of being squeezed to get reps.

Nah, couldn't be that. He left just because he's not very good. Whats defined as good with that group and every other team in the country are two very separate things.

He's not likely the best receiver on the PSU roster. He's likely the best receiver on the PSU roster by a wide margin. I think KLS figured that out.

If you've coached long enough you've encountered the talented player who has attitude issues. Some can be corrected and some can be negotiated. One of the most challenging personality issues to mitigate is the " I don't get enough respect...." prima donna. Generally speaking, you reach a point where staff and teammates have had enough.
The real question here shouldn't be what the team will look like without KLS....it should be what another season would be like with him.

The attention Fleming gets for his attitude and willingness to be a team guy "struck a nerve."

Allar missed him when he was here.

o_O
True. Not sure much is going to change in that department. But I'm hoping Allar's accuracy is much improved this year. I look to see a much more complex short game and that alone should improve Allar's completion percentage. TE's RB's should be a bigger factor in the passing game plus the way coach K uses the running game will help all of that. You have to go with what ya got.

On the WO's I wonder if at least one RB could be moved to WO? I know of one I would give a shot that is if he maintained his speed after his rehab. Plus, I think he's a little light in the can to be heavily used in the Big Ten as a RB. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong there. Patience is always a virtue in those situations.
