He'll have to survive the guaranteed poaching that will occur there plus have the deep pockets to keep funneling in mercenaries. Won't last.

Yes it will. He’s 63. He’s not going anywhere else. That’s why it’s good to ID those late 50s/early 60s experienced guys who will give you a good 7-8 years in the best part of their careers.

We had our guy, he died. We hired from within to keep it going, and it didn’t work. Should have went back to the plan and hired Fritz, Malzahn or Rich Rod. Or Cig for that matter.

Tulane is about to go 9-2 with a new coach, Sumrall, and a freshman QB. There's something to be said for good coordinators to earn their chops as a head coach somewhere, even with a pay cut, so they're prepared for bigger jobs.

Yep. And many times, if you want to go the coordinator route, need to find one that has been with a successful head coach for a long time, and seen up close how to run a program. Dan Mullen, Kirby Smart come to mind.
