There's gotta be a way to explain 203 total yards of offense. Heck, Abilene Christian had 308 yards at Missouri. I guess my question is this: how hard is it to mix things up? The players and announcers knew that Missouri's D knew the plays that were coming. Did nobody tell Satterfield?

There is definitely some dysfunction setting in on offense.

Jaheim Bell: It's very frustrating going through the whole week knowing you're going get the ball, and it doesn't happen. I try to let it go that Sunday, come in on Tuesday and be positive."

Xavier Legette: "It all comes back to the offensive coordinator. Whatever he calls is what we have to go do."

This can be taken a couple of ways. Either "We just have to execute better" or "We have no choice but to run the crappy plays the OC calls."

Jaheim Bell: "No, I wasn't expecting to have just nine snaps. I was expecting to have a big game...but on to the next game. Preparing for Vanderbilt."

Am I the only one cringing when I read those?

I'm sure not. How it reads to me is: zero confidence in the offensive game plan. Once the players have lost faith in what you're doing, that's a dangerous situation to be in. For one, it's impossible to be motivated when you're told to run plays that are doomed to fail.

I'm sure he's a great guy and trying his dead level best. But the offense is floundering and the players obviously have no confidence in it.

Simply rumors, so take it fwiw, but there was talk of personality issues last year about this time with Satterfield and his underlings. It seemed to have not been a big deal since everyone stayed though.

Ah, hadn't heard that one.

What's obvious, though, is that the players don't have any confidence in the offense. It's up to Satterfield to either get them to buy into he's doing or to make changes to something that's more effective. Even if he 100% believes his offense is perfect, if you can't get the players to buy into it, it's worthless.

Kimrey left. Maybe he was the only offensive coach that had the balls to call satt out

If we win (and I think we will) and nothing changes on offense, we still lose in terms of dealing with the "situation".
Yeah, Vandy has one of the worst defenses in college football. The offense HAS to perform. And, for the love of Pete, we’ve got to do what the coaches say after every single game and get the ball to our playmakers.

It will perform better at Vandy and a segment of the fanbase will immediately pronounce the problem as solved.

We hope. Mizzou barely escaped at home against Vandy.

But, yes, if we look good against Vandy, fans will suddenly be talking about going to Gainesville and stealing that one. Being a Gamecock fan is a roller coaster ride like no other.

Legette was asked about whose responsibility it is to get the ball to playmakers. He responded similarly to the above comment: "It's really on the offensive coordinator. What he feels is what we do."

I can't recall when I've ever seen so many players taking such thinly veiled shots at a coach

I don't think UF, UTenn and the University of Clemson are even thinking about us.

UF maybe b/c we whooped their tails last year. I think their fans want some revenge since the general sentiment is that the team had checked out on Mullen which is what gave us the win.

UPC and UT are pulling for us in games that don't involve them due to strength of schedule. Beyond that, we are no more than an annoying bump in the road - not even a bump, but a "did you feel us run over something back there?".

Dysfunction not the correct word. The correct word is not PC.

We have to beat Vandy first, that is not a given.
A piece of cake; you know it is. You're just afraid to say it out loud. We are going to beat two dysfunctional teams and lose to two functional teams. Our offense will remain substandard but we will use bowl eligibility to shield anyone from being fired. The handwriting is on the wall.

I'm already talking about it. We get bowl eligible with seven wins and bring every coach back, regardless of what happens in the bowl game.

I think Vandy beats us worse than this guy’s prediction.

It could certainly happen.

Some of our fans thought Mizzou was in the bag.

Now fans think Vandy is in the bag. It took a miraculous escape last year to beat Vandy at home. This team is not much better offensively than that team.

It would certainly be a Gamecock thing to do to finally beat UK for the first just the 2nd time in 9 years, beat A&M for the first time ever, then turn around and lose to Vandy for the first time in 14 years.
