Just back from the game..... yes I know this has probably been discussed.

1) As me and my neighbors keep asking... what happened to the option? We ran it so well late last year and ran it well at Auburn, then it get's totally tossed? I mean totally MIA. WTF is up with that? Are the coaches trying to save it so there wont be much tape on it later for opponents? <div>
</div><div>2) We must be horrible in coverage cause we play ever pass play to not give up the long ball. Coverage is just as soft as prevent defense. A team that runs the spread well will methodically ram it down the field on this defense.</div><div>
</div><div>3) Linebacker are undersized AND slow. Rb's come past cox and boyd to meet a hit by a feather pillow until help arrives from another LB or Safety. Then sweeps outside have to be corralled by corners until LB eventually arrives.</div><div>
</div><div>4) we REALLY miss McPhee. All blocking is focused on the DT's with a proverbial hand out to block Eulls to buy the QB all the time he needs to find a WR in front of the coverage.</div><div>
</div><div>5) The last 4th quarter drive. Are you kidding me?? Perkins sweep...Perkins sweep...Perkins sweep...Perkins sweep..Timeout... Perkins sweep. You call a timeout to run the same play? And time ticks away with a full alottment of TO's still on the board. Unreal.</div><div>
</div><div>6) The boo birds came out hard tonight during the continuous draws and counters up the middle. More than once. Flashbacks to the Crxxm era. I'm surprised you didn't hear it on TV.. or at least I haven't seen it mentioned.</div><div>
</div><div>7) Burn the black jerseys..... but make ever 17'n game a blackout for students. The short black dresses walking around was worth the ticket. </div><div>
</div><div>8) Hope we just played down to the competetion, cause Alabama and Arkansas could be ugly, SC a schooling, KY a nailbiter, and Jeff Scott may get to keep his scholly.</div><div>
</div><div>Edit: oh yea and</div><div>
</div><div>9) Relf has improved 0 percent with passing. none. Plus when relf get's in trouble, the WR's give up and do not think to come back and help. I saw one of them go from running to walking when Relf got in trouble, scrambled, and it became obvious the play was broken. It may have been Clark...but i'm not sure. didn't see a number.</div><div>
</div><div>10) I'm so 17'n tired of seeing better kickers and punters on WAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt teams I could puke. I will probably streak across the field if we see a touchback this year in which the field is not shortened by penalty.</div>

1) Hard to run the option when you are getting blown up on the line. Penetration kills the option
2) That has to be it, unfortunately.
3) That was obvious in the MEMPHIS game. We really stink at LB.
4) Absolutely.
5) It workedout, in the end. Nothing really worked all night.
6) Yep, I remarked more than once at the game that that was as bad as anything Croom ever did, except Maine
7) AMEN
8) We didn't. We just aren't very good. I thought it was obvious against Memphis, and posted so here.
9) Agree on the recievers but the bigggest probblem with Relf and all of them is up front. Bad QBs and backs look good behind a good line, and vice versa.
10) Lay off our punter, he aint bad. Surely out of a student body of 20000 with a bunch of international students SURELY we could dredge up soccer player that could put the ball in the endzone every now and then.

Number 1 is a very good question. I would also like to know what happened the screen game with Perkins that looked so good against Ole Miss and Michigan last year. It seems if we find something that works we quit running it.

1. For some reason, we ran the option backwards tonight. Instead of Ballard up the middle or Relf around the end, it was Ballard around the end or Relf up the middle.
2. I agree but yet WR's still consistently still get behind us even with the soft coverage. If we don't bring pressure, we're dead it doesn't matter what we do.
3. Yep
4. Yep again which is why our only hope is to relentlessy blitz.
5. If we would have run those sweeps more throughout the game, we would have been taking knees at the end.
6.Crxxms. That's exactly what I was thinking!
7. "B......bu.....but the recruits like them." Well guess what? We can find plenty of 2 and 3 star recruits that just want to come here and play football that don't give a 17 about black jerseys although I really hate to miss out on all of that 5 star talent we've been getting since we've started wearing them.
8. To quote shsdawg, "We didn't" although offensive play calling and defensive scheming had a lot to do with it too.
9. Something is bad wrong with Relf's timing. It seems now for the past two games that he is holding the ball too long before making the decision to tuck and run.
10. I posted on this earlier. Wehad a guy that has a better than 50% touchback rate in the bag and we didn't even contact him. All I hear is "Send in newspaper clippings", "Email coaches"....etc...why? Its obvious they have the only ones in mind that they are going to look at no matter what info you send them.

1. Losing Sherrod and nowtwo to injury.....our OL isn't good right now.
2.I understand the cushion against the LSUs and etc. but if we are having to give 10 yards to LaTech WR.......we are up the creek. But again, we played tighter coverage in the end and save our tails with it.
3. Yep, USC and Lattimore will roll our defense.
5. Yep, Mullen's play calling sometimes..........geez. Run the ball with time expiring. Throw the ball in OT when there is no clock and all you need is a FG to win.
8. We aren't very talented along the OL and front 7 on defense. But yeah, they did over look this game at the begining. I don't think we win more than 6. But6 is begining to look good for this team.
9. Yeah, I am so sick of seeing aWR with a couple of steps on the defender........then seeing them make a sharp cut to an underthrown ball in the middle of the field.

Anyway, I hate this saying.......but it is what it is. Recruiting has to get better. That is extremely obvious this season.
