since the pasture is the source here, then the credibility is somewhat, if not alot, eroded. However, if true, how much effect does this move/hire have on the Cam situation .. if if if he were to go.

done.

Definitely would help with Cam you would have to think. More importantly, it would knock those renewed smug-*** sonofabitches back down to earth again. They are getting really high on themselves again.

I think we will hear from Cam before TT hires anybody, but the more Gus' name is out there, the better.

since he's a known commodity (not saying that what is known about him is necessarily all good) and has significant HC experience. Malzahn, while a perfect fit for their style of play and the athletes that the State of Texas churns out, has zero college HC experience. I see them trying to get Jones, then maybe Sumlin then Malzahn.

if he goes to texas tech I think it will help us out greatly next year with the game at Houston. Sumlin to Texas Tech , then Mallett to the NFL, gosh that sounds good .

I know there has been talk about how we are still after him, and Auburn losing Malzahn might help with that too.

and they have deep pockets for a raise to keep him. Despite Mike's success @ TT, I would argue that SMU is a much better job. The Highland Park Pony Express is a pretty sweet gig. If TCU can pull it off in FT. Worth, June could have a gold mine in Dallas.

I don't think JJ is going anywhere for awhile, SMU isn't a bad job, they have more history/tradition than TT. He's just returned from the wilderness that is Hawai'i and I can't imagine he'd want to go from Dallas to West TX.

Also, its apparent that TT doesn't want to pay much for a football coach, and as you mention JJ is making good money.

TT has over SMU is that they are in a BCS conference.

But who knows? SMU may be able to sneak in if they can go undefeated like Jones did at Hawaii.

When I saw SMU the other night, I noticed that they had a lot of Fr. and So. They should be very good the next couple of years at least.

He is a TT man. His old man, Spike, is a legend in Lubbock. Sonny has done a good job as OC at Arizona and as a former Leach assistant he could bridge the gap for the pro and con Leach factions. Plus, because Lubbock is home, he would not be using TT as a stepping stone job.
