Only Ken Talley Until Penn State Football

27 days!

A true freshman, Ken Talley comes to Penn State after a stellar prep career in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-2, 238-pound Talley was a start-to-finish four-star on the recruiting sites, and was an early commitment for the Nittany Lions in the 2022 recruiting class, making the call for Penn State way back in September 2020.
There was some discussion on what position Talley would start his career at. He was long thought to be a defensive end prospect, but ended up playing a lot of linebacker his senior year of high school, which put into question if the Nittany Lions would try him out at linebacker first. Instead, Penn State is sticking with Talley at defensive end. While a redshirt year is expected, he was one of the better pure football players in the 2022 class. Would not be surprised to hear his name as an important part of the scout team this coming season.
Just 27 days, folks.

It would be HS summer grades if that's the case.
🤷‍♂️

Picked Penn State over Baylor, Arizona State and Boston College? Maybe he doesn't want to red shirt or play DE of
over a LB`er position

Maybe he just decided PSU was not the place for him. I mean....they discontinued Chicken Cosmos, so it's a wonder anyone commites to PSU.

Maybe his NIL deal didn't come through.
"He's the heartbeat," said defensive recruiting coordinator and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith, whose focus on Philadelphia is key for Penn State. "He's kinda gonna be what Jesse Luketa brought for us as the pulse of the defense. I think this guy is gonna bring that to us. His energy, his smile, his personality, his tenacity, the dog in him."

What the heck is wrong with this picture?
🤔

Ken Talley has jumped in the portal. After being the last freshman to arrive this summer and was taking part in preseason practice, he has decided to depart.

Talley Ho

Purely academics. He didn’t qualify at the end of spring and had to take summer classes, which is why he want on campus until fall camp began.
😟
He collected approximately two dozen reported scholarship offers, including Power Five options from schools such as Arizona State, Kentucky, Michigan, Pitt, Tennessee, and Texas A&M ( show me the money, baby)

With the exceptions of UM and Pitt, do the rest of these schools have lower academic requirements?

I recently saw an insane acceptance rate of 96% for University of Kentucky. No idea if true, but holy sh*t.

Can’t be right. I’ll check and report back.

From USN&WR:

University of Kentucky admissions is more selective with an acceptance rate of 96%. Half the applicants admitted to University of Kentucky have an SAT score between 1070 and 1280 or an ACT score of 22 and 29. However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges. The application deadline is Feb. 15 and the application fee at University of Kentucky is $50.

Like that Fleetwood Mac album…oh the rumors! Something about him and the psu RB coaches daughter? Juicy stuff. And just like that, Franklin loses another DE.

This is what we’re up against.

Well dammmmnnnn... that's my idea of being "selective"!

He was a linebacker that could have made a difference at a weak position. Not good.

Well, they do reject 4% of applicants.

Art, seriously, weren’t you the least little bit surprised at the 94%? In my field I’m used to being wrong but eventually everything makes sense. A flagship state university with a 94% acceptance rate? I can’t even…

I saw that Tennessee was at 78% and thought that it was higher than it should be. I guess either I know nothing about the current realities of higher education or else I’m avoiding the truth.

The thing behind door #3 pictured above was actually one of their special project admissions. I have a source literally buried deep deep deep within the academics dept there who vouched for the dude (?) and got it a scholie.

I think someone at UK thought 96% meant a really strong "A" and are currently pushing hard for a 100 to take top honors. lol.
