One thing that caught my attention on today’s show was their discussion about how all the other sports are doing well and if football was good everyone would be really happy with Selmon. Another way to interpret the scenario is the 1 sport Selmon has had a direct impact on is a complete disaster. I hate we hired an unproven AD who has to try to learn on job, especially in the new era of collegiate sports.

When is the last time Mississippi State hired a “proven” AD?

Pretty much never. We’ve almost never had an AD that had been an AD at another school before, much less “proven”.

Carl Maddox was AD at LSU before coming to State back in 1979.

Before that, from what I could research in the past few minutes, you have to go back to W.D. Chadwick in 1909 to find a Mississippi State (or A&M) AD that had been an AD at a previous location. He was AD at Albion College before coming to State.

Some of the older pack members may be able to point out names I may have missed.

I disagree. I think stopping Tenn on the goal line was. I have to admit that the real highlight to the season was watching the most talented Ole Miss football team in their history melt down against KY, LSU and FL.

@Brian Hadad 2nd thing that was true made me laugh pretty good.

He said when we were:
  • 1st and 10 at Mizzou's 32 yard line
  • Up 3-0
  • 2 consecutive 3 and outs by the defense...
was the high water mark of the season. I cackled in the car.
It's sad, but I think he's spot on. It was the only time this season against an SEC team where I believed for a brief moment that we had a chance to win the game.

Then our QB squelched that tiny flame of hope in about 5 seconds
