I'm not excited at all. I am getting more and more disenchanted with college sports in general. Couple that with that I don't see us as being much if any better than last year and with the schedule...........

I really feel the same way and it goes for basketball as well. I used to watch college basketball every night of the week and on the weekend. It's becoming a game of Blue Bloods as well recently. Of course you'll have the occasional low seed make a run in the NCAA tournament but when you get to the Final Four it's made up of teams almost always from a group of the usual suspects.

As for football, can you really see anyone outside of the usual group breaking into the playoff this year?

I hate that we have such a tough schedule this year but I fully expect this team to go 8 and 4 which would be pretty good considering who we play. If you really think Leach isn't a good coach, maybe you need to do some research. He is not Nick Saban but he is an upper tier coach. Long history of success. Its ridiculously ignorant to compare him to Croom.

Not really. It's the off season. I'm excited for fall camp and the season to start to see what we are actually working with. Leach has proven over his career that he will win games he's not supposed to.

Once it gets closer to the season there will be wool

Yes, anemic. Dive into those numbers a little. That's 10th in scoring, 10th in yds per pass attempt (6.9 yds including the yds after catch), 8th in total yds, 7th in total yds/game, Total Rushing is LAST, Rushing per game is LAST,. If you are going to be last or way down in some offensive categories you had better be pretty damn good in others. And in the 2 years under Captain Leach the record is 11-13 (Joe Mo was 14-12, just saying). What about that excites you? The fact that we complete a bunch of little dink passes and pick up a few more after catch yards and average 6.9 yds? Our offense is so one dimensional and predictable

Strange, when I watch games my attention is on the action on the field. Why are you watching the coach??? I prefer a coach that manages the team over a glorified cheerleader.

Yeah how's that working out? Why not both? I said an energetic coach would HELP. Energy is contagious, or can be. I'd much rather play for a fiery coach than one that just stares at the field slack jawed and looking lost.

What year did Jo Mo play an all SEC schedule?

This is extremely disingenuous. Comparing Moorhead’s record against Leach completely invalidates any rational point you were trying to make in your post. We were 2 plays away from going 9-3 last year and we beat some pretty salty teams on the road last year. That doesn’t excuse losing to Memphis and shitting the bed against Ole Miss, but If you didn’t see anything that gives you hope for the future then you weren’t looking very hard.

I'm excited about football. Most of the starters and all the coaches returning. We are always picked last in the West so that doesn't mean anything to me. We start with a rematch with Memphis at home. I hope we smoke them.

In 2021 State was one of the few teams that was Top 25 in both offense and defense, and that was with a lot of redshirt freshmen and sophomores. So we have a large number of starters back. And hopefully a new kicker or two.

For 2022, think 2021 with a little better scoring offense and fewer missed field goals.

All-SEC schedule with only 43 players. The Covid 2020 season does not count...as far as predicting future success and comparing against coaches who didn't have that.

I worry about our two O-Tackles. Out side that I feel pretty good.

I hope you get out of your funk. Living in a funk state it tough. Meds or alcohol sometimes helps.

Maybe the team will surprise you this year.

Watching porn and rubbing one off every once in a while helps too. *********

8-4 with toughest schedule in the Nation

I really can't figure this toughest schedule thing out. We basically playing the same schedule as last year outside a few out of conference games.

1.We beat KY and they are not going to be improved. They are going to be the same team that only beat two teams with a winning record.

2.We should have beaten LSU. A lot of brain farts cost us that game. Are they going to be any better? They are basically the same team.

3.Arkansas was a two player team last year and they lost one of them to the draft. As far I am concern we won that game. The refs screwed us. How much better will they be and we get them at home.

4. Not saying we beat GA but you can't have 15 guys drafted and not have a drop off.

5. Ole Miss lost the one guy that made them good plus 14 other starters. We shot our self in the foot in that game. Yes they went to the portal. Those guys are in the portal for a reason. I don't think they will be as good as they were last season.

6.We have a really easy OOC schedule.

7.How much better is Auburn going to be? They have the same coach and the same DC that let State come back from a 28 point deficit.

8. A&M we beat them on a regular basis. I say that game is 50/50 right now. We worked them over last season. They will be the same old average team with the same whining *** ****** coach.

In my opinion there are only two games that we do not have a shot at. Flame away!

All you unexcited little girls stay home if you aren’t excited by this team. Leech and staff have finally rebuilt a complete roster of young men who are ready to put it on the line for MSU. We weren’t much of a football program after the JoMo fiasco. Leech is a teacher of tough guy football. I went to the practice on the 23rd of April and there were players that can compete against the toughest division of the toughest conference in this nation. I’m gonna be there. Join me if you finally ‘work up’ whatever it takes to motivate you. Hail State, you unexcited m17-ers!

I am excited to watch Will Rogers. His stats won't just be the best in MSU history, they will be top in NCAA history. Defintely gives me a reason to watch. But the NIL crap is really going to suck a lot of the excitement out of the game, just going to have to accept that college football is going to be more like the pros. The illusion of amatuerism is gone. And I think everyone knows that MSU is never going to have the money to compete with the UGAs and Bamas of the world, but its not like we ever have before anyway. The thing that will suck the most about it is that if State does get a really good player, what's to stop a LSU or Bama from coming in and buying them away? Having said that I think that it is only fair to players that they get paid. It's not right to generate billions of dollars of revenue and then shut out the players, especially when their personal health is on the line every time they step on the field.

I'll give you the off-season, but if you don't get excited about the season by the time August rolls around it's probably a "you" problem in terms of getting older or just moving on with life. And that's fine, but there's plenty to be excited and hopeful about this year relative to typical Mississippi State standard and expectations.

My give a S$$t meter is low.
1. game times make it so that I need to spend the night. That’s a ton of money.
2. it’s expensive. I gave up my gridiron passes this year $5100
3. My kids didn’t or won’t go to State so they don’t care to go like they once did
4. 85 inch ultra high definition tv in the AC
5. NIL
6. competition for my dollars. I spend 10k for three Grizz season tickets on the 4th row. 41 games
vs 5100 for 6 or 7 games in gridiron I gave up 6 scoreboard last year that was like 10k 41
games is just a better deal

I have no hope at all as long as Leech is the coach. That being said I'm rapidly coming not to give a crap whatever happens and that has nothing to do with Leech or MSU. My Saturdays from late August to early December have revolved around college football since at least the late 70s. I don't see that continuing much if any longer. If I want to watch pros playing sports I'll watch the real deal, not the MLS.

This has been said before but it’s really simple. Leach will beat either A&M, Georgia, LSU, or Bama this year, lose to some trash team on the road like Arizona or Kentucky, finish his tradition of not giving a 17 against rivals by losing to Ole Miss, then make some meaningless bowl. Ya, no-one’s excited dude. We’ve seen this movie on tv before. Its on more then the 2000s played the mummy.

We have only ever done well in the Egg Bowl rivalry when we had a HC that emphasized it like Sherrill and Mullen did. Leach treating it the same as a game with SE Missouri State will NEVER be a recipe for success.

IF we are looking up to OM it has nothing to do with Leach, and certainly nothing to do with Leach at Washington State. It will be because OM is good.

In 2022 OM and State should be more equal, but we have to go up there again, which makes it tougher. I'm just saying that "losing three Egg Bowls in a row" isn't the same for these particular years as for most other three year periods.

If OM is good because of Kiffin, that doesn't make Leach worse. You can't compare Leach's Egg Bowl results against Sherrill/Croom/Mullen/Moorhead if OM is a lot better than they were against those other coaches.

This is just talking about the Egg Bowl. We still need to win a lot of games in 2022 and be competitive in the others. We need to not fall way behind bad/average teams like LaTech and Auburn, and we need to beat all of the bad teams like Memphis.

Agree with all.

But I will say, if he loses the Egg Bowl in 2023 at home again to go 0-4, I don't suspect it'll be a situation where either Leach or MSU will want to continue.

I've watched us shoot ourselves in the foot in football over and over for over 50years. The difference now we've got the NCAA/Gov't/whoever the hell is calling the shots now shooting us in the other foot at the same time . I absolutely just don't know what the future holds for us. As Dorothy said "Toto we're not in Kansas anymore".

Leach Used to be a good coach. He is on the downhill side of his career. It happens. Too bad it happened to us
