Losses like this one for Kiffin have got to be demoralizing. This was the year, and he's got losses to three mediocre teams.

You spend ungodly amounts of money to put together the best roster you can get to come to Oxford, MS, and this is the result you get. Teams like LSU and Florida in their down years are still able to match or even exceed your talent level.

This is why we lose coaches at MSU. And if it wasn't clear to Kiffin that it's the same story at UMiss, it should be now.

Of course the flip side to this and the fortunate thing for the Johnnies is that true blue bloods will want Kiffin less and less as this continues. The Rebs will not be better next year.

My bet is that Kiff bails soon for somewhere with an easier path, like Florida State. Florida won't hire him now.

Also please note that they beat no one of consequence last year. Both blue bloods they played ran them out of the stadium. Fortunately for the Johnnies they ran up against Penn St, known only for their defense, in their bowl game, and literally half of said defense "opted out" of the game.

The fact of the matter is that OM is only a better than average team. They are far, far from elite.

And they never will be that.

Good news, Rebel fans! My sources tell me that Kiffin will not be going to a blue blood school. He’s yours for a long time.

Seriously though. Why would a high profile school want to hire him? You’ve seen what he’s done with high profile resources at a mid level school. Kiffin and OM deserve each other. May they go 9-3 every year, with an Egg Bowl loss.

Correct. That was the best roster money can buy. And it’s another reason we should not try and mimic their path.

We need a niche. Innovation.

I get it, but don't conveniently leave out the domination of the best team in college football the last 3 years just two weeks ago.

They are good, but Kiffin has a hard time overcoming his own arrogance.

This Mississippi team is a lot like our 2000 squad. Led in every game, looked absolutely dominant at times, and lost to some lesser teams. Hopefully, the bottom drops out for them next year, like 2001-2003 did for us.

Hopefully Jaxon Dart gets the flu and has to come out of the Egg Bowl in the 1st quarter. That would complete the cycle.

This years Georgia team is absolutely nowhere near the UGA teams of the last 4-5 years. This years UGA team is above average but in no way, shape or form elite.

Georgia is far from the best team in college football.

They'll be in the playoffs this year and they've won two of the last 3 national championships. Finished 13-1 the year they didn't get to play for it all.

Y'all are kinda silly.

I had an Ole Miss friend tell me he is taking the money he saved for going to CFP games and giving it to the Grove Collective.

If they can miss the playoffs every year, they can raise a lot of NIL money :ROFLMAO:

If I’m Lane Kiffin, I’m not in panic mode, but I’m definitely looking for the 1st chance I get at a program that can legitimately compete at the highest level. This year tells me there’s a ceiling in Mississippi.
Here’s the problem with that logic…. They aren’t 8-3 because they just can’t hang with the big boy teams. They smoked one of the big boy teams. The reasons they are 8-3 are because of Lane Kiffin. There is no good excuse for that roster to have 3 losses to unranked teams outside of a poor coaching job. I would argue he has done a poor job with that team. He has gotten every ounce of support he could possibly get from fan support, talent, resources, all of it…. Being at Ole Miss didn’t 17 it up for him, he 17’d it up for himself this time.

Well I for one would be quite happy with 9-3 every year
Not if you're projected to be better than that, overextended financially to buy a roster of mercenaries, and were favored in all three games you lost.

That would suck. It would possibly make me suicidal.

The “ungodly” amounts of money compiled by OM were still not enough to keep their most important offensive player from transferring to a blueblood. Judkins is 100% the difference in them making the CFP and not making it. Their offense has bogged down this year in big spots due to lack of physicality between the tackles.

That’s the thing. They spent a lot, but not nearly enough to be truly competitive. And they are spending 2 to 3 times what we are in both coaching staff salary and NIL. And its still not enough.
